COMMERCE CITY, Colo. -- Below are Bruce Arena's postgame thoughts from the LA Galaxy's 1-1 draw with the Colorado Rapids on Sunday evening.

(His thoughts on tonight’s match:)

ARENA: "I thought that it was a fair result. We didn’t play our best match by any means. I think we could have been a little bit better. Our passing wasn’t good on the night. I think in the second half, our defensive shape was better, which we needed because we fell apart towards the end of the first half. I would have liked to see us, obviously, get the second goal and get out of here with three points."

(On return of some players, and play of Tommy Meyer...)

ARENA: "Tommy did very well. We had to use the game to get David [Beckham] some fitness, some minutes, and the same with Landon [Donovan] coming back. Those are important minutes for those players as we move forward as well."

(On the adjustments made at halftime...)

ARENA: "We just simply wanted to do a better job defensively. From there, it would help open up our passing game a bit. They improved there. I thought we did a better job with the number 10 [Martin Rivero] and the number 23 [Jaime Castrillón] in the second half."

(On the remainder of the season...)

ARENA: "There’s a lot of season left. Obviously, the month of October is going to be important for us. We’re coming around. We’re slowly getting some guys back on the field and getting in better form, but obviously the next three league matches are important."

COMMERCE CITY, Colo. -- The LA Galaxy extended their unbeaten run to ten games as Marcelo Sarvas and Jaime Castrillon traded first half goals, but the most important news of the night was a knee injury to A.J. DeLaGarza

In the 30th minute, while attempting to stop an Omar Cummings run up field, DeLaGarza appeared knock knees with the Jamaican forward. The injury forced DeLaGarza to be stretched off the field and was carried by the club's training staff into the locker room. A team official confirmed that the preliminary diagnosis was a left knee sprain for DeLaGarza.

A few notes from the match:

*Tommy Meyer stepped in for DeLaGarza making his first league appearance since a 1-0 May 5 defeat to the New York Red Bulls at The Home Depot Center.

* Marcelo Sarvas goal was his second of the season.

*With their unbeaten run extended their unbeaten run to ten in all competitions.

*During LA's unbeaten run, the Galaxy have only trailed for a total of 20 minute (17 minutes against the Columbus Crew and three against Isidro Metapán).

*The match featured a brief downpour midway through the second half.

We're just a couple of hours away from tonight's clash between the Colorado Rapids and the LA Galaxy.

Above is a shot that I snapped during a walk through the city this afternoon of Denver's reknowned Daniels and Fisher Tower. The 20-floor clock tower was built in 1910 and at the time was the largest building between Mississippi and California.

As we lead into the match, check out my Three Points to the game.

The Seattle Sounders have clinched a postseason berth and in the process guaranteed that at least one MLS Cup playoffs game will be at The Home Depot Center.

On Saturday evening, Seattle played the Vancouver Whitecaps to a scoreless draw at BC Place which assures that LA Galaxy can finish no lower than fourth, meaning that LA will host at least one playoff game this postseason.

2012 will be the fourth straight year that a Galaxy playoff game is played at The HDC.

The LA Galaxy are off to Denver, Colorado this afternoon as they prepare to take on the Colorado Rapids on Sunday.

I'll have more news once the team lands, but while I'm in mid-air, check out staff writer Larry Morgan's preview of the match in Colorado

Below is's video preview of the match.

29 September 1:24 pm

CARSON, Calif. -- The LA Galaxy will likely be without their newest signing Christian Wilhelmsson for Sunday's match against the Colorado Rapids.

Wilhelmsson is currently listed as questionable for Sunday's match due to a left calf strain that has prevented him from participating in the club's final three training sessions this week. However, with  that is of little concern to Galaxy captain Landon Donovan, who attests that LA can more than handle the Swede's absence

“He looks like he got banged up a little bit, we’ll see,” said Donovan. “We’ve developed a really, really deep team so there’s a lot of guys that can step up if he can’t play.”

Read more on Wilhelmsson as well as an update on David Beckham in my Training Notebook from Friday

CARSON, Calif. -- David Beckham is hopeful that he'll be able to his first appearance in nearly a month against the Colorado Rapids on Sunday.

Beckham has become a steady fixture on the Galaxy training ground this week after missing the past three matches due to a left ankle sprain. Although Beckham is listed as questionable for Sunday's match, head coach Bruce Arena told reporters on Thursday that the English midfielder is "getting better" and "moving forward" ahead of Sunday's clash in Colorado.

On Friday, Beckham discussed his availability for Sunday in the quotes below....

BECKHAM: “I’m getting there. It’s obviously difficult being out a few weeks and coming back, but I’ve had a good week of training and I should be okay for this weekend.”

(On potentially going 90 minutes in Colorado...)

BECKHAM: “We have to wait and see. Obviously, you have to build it up again and judge how I feel during the game and what Bruce and the physios think so hopefully I can play 90, but with the altitude and it is my first game back after three-and-a-half weeks so I hope that I can do it.”

CARSON, Calif. – Christian Wilhelmsson's status for Sunday’s match against the Colorado Rapids is up in the air.

The Swedish winger was listed on the club’s injury report on Friday as questionable with a left ankle sprain. Wilhelmsson has missed the last two training sessions, but was receiving treatment during Friday’s session.

Following Friday’s training session, head coach Bruce Arena told reporters that Wilhelmsson would be “fine”, but he did not know if he’d feature or travel to Colorado.

With the Puerto Rico Islanders victory over Isidro Metapán on Thursday, the LA Galaxy sealed their berth in the CONCACAF Champions League quarterfinals

However, the job is far from done for the Galaxy as LA still has one match left to play on October 25 against Metapán in El Salvador. That match will be vital in terms of the seeding process that will determine which the match ups for the quarterfinals.

Following practice on Thursday, rookie midfielder Rafael Garcia discussed qualification and the second team's role in the match in El Salvador.

GARCIA: "It's very nice, now we just need to do the work and take care of business over there, that way that the whole seeding process will benefit us in the long run. We're thinking about going out there and getting a win. For us younger players, just knowing that we helped in the process is definitely a great feeling and it's not going to be easy since it is a hostile environment there, but we just have to go out there and do our best so we can hopefully get that win."

CARSON, Calif. -- Marcelo Sarvas has become an integral part of LA Galaxy midfield, but months ago, he was fighting for a playoff spot.

Following Thursday's practice session, I caught up with Sarvas' who discussed his recent run of form and the role that David Beckham's absence played in his rise.

Check out my piece on Sarvas here.

Below Sarvas discusses the role that his compatriot Juninho has played in his rise..

SARVAS: “We solve many problems just by talking during the game. It goes two ways, he’s helped me and I’ve helped him. It’s something that is mutual and natural. We help each other with our position and if there is something that he doesn’t see during the game then I do my best to put him in a good spot. We both help one another.”
