VANCOUVER, B.C. – Dan Gargan looks like he’s here to stay on the right-side of the LA Galaxy defense.

The 31-year-old put forth another strong performance on Saturday as he notched his second assist in three starts. Gargan’s two helpers place him in a four-way tie for the team lead.

Gargan’s brightest moment came in the 38th minute when he launched a diagonal ball onto the head of Baggio Husidic who knocked it toward Stefan Ishizaki, who nodded a shot past Vancouver goalkeeper David Ousted for the game’s first goal.

“It’s something that Bruce has encouraged for me to get involved in the attack and take the space when it’s available. When that opportunity opens up, I want to do whatever I can help,”Gargan told reporters after the game. “If that’s pushing forward and being an option then great, but if nothing else, then I’d like to pull teams wide and give Robbie [Keane] and Landon [Donovan] options going forward.”

The veteran defender also excelled on the defensive side of the ball as he made five recoveries, two clearances and one interception during the draw. Despite his success, head coach Bruce Arena admitted that the Galaxy have yet to see the best that the defender has to offer.

"Dan had a solid game,” the Galaxy coach said. “We're moving him along, he needs a few games to get full match fitness, but he's doing well."

Those Time Warner Cable SportsNet pregame and postgame shows are getting mighty interesting.

A week after Landon Donovan videobombed my own live hit during the TWCSN postgame show, Galaxy sideline reporter Kelli Tennant had a little unintentional fun of her own during the pregame show when she was knocked in the head by an errant Vancouver Whitecaps shot ahead of the LA Galaxy's 2-2 draw last Saturday.  It appears that TWCSN producer Joel Bengoa attempted to block the shot from colliding with Tennant, but his outstretched arm was unable to make the stop.

Tennant's composed reaction made international news and you can see the video below.

VANCOUVER, B.C. -- Bruce Arena was left frustrated after the LA Galaxy surrendered two leads to draw Vancouver Whitecaps FC 2-2 on Saturday.

Arena's thoughts are below.

(On the draw...)

ARENA: "I was disappointed. I would have liked to have three points today. We didn't do a good job protecting the lead."

(On the play involving Leonardo and Jaime Penedo...)

ARENA: "It was just a mistake of communication. We know on this surface that we have to be smart. The ball is spinning and skipping so you just have to be safe and put the ball out of play."

(On the Galaxy midfield...)

ARENA: "For the most part our guys had a pretty good game."

(On the play of Dan Gargan...)

ARENA: "Dan had a solid game. We're moving him along, he needs a few games to get full match fitness, but he's doing well."

(On playing different teams now when league play resumes...)

ARENA: "Are we allowed to? It'll be nice at some point."

CARSON, Calif. – The LA Galaxy were pressed from the get-go by Vancouver Whitecaps FC in the club’s meeting last Saturday and when the club’s renew hostilities this Saturday in Vancouver, LA expect much of the same.

In fact, such similarities are nothing new for LA who have played just three teams so in league play despite having played four matches.  Add in the CONCACAF Champions League and the Galaxy’s first seven games will have been against just four different opponents.

“I’m wondering what the rest of this league is like. This is like the old days of the league ,” LA head coach Bruce Arena joked after training on Thursday. “We’re looking forward to the game. They have a good team, but I feel comfortable about our team. We’re looking better each week.”

The ‘Caps team that will take on the Galaxy will be slightly different than the one that LA earned a 1-0 victory over a week earlier, however, as Vancouver head coach will be able to call upon defensive midfielder Matias Laba. The Argentine was suspended for the StubHub Center leg of the home-at-home “series” but will be expected to return to the fold on Saturday providing the defensive cover in the center while also playing quick passes forward to kick start the Whitecaps attack.

The task of pressuring Laba is expected to fall to Galaxy midfielder Stefan Ishizaki, who often mans the attacking point of Arena’s diamond midfield.

“We have to be close and close them down quickly in midfield. We can’t be giving them time on the ball and it’s easy to say that, but it’ll take a lot of hard work,” said Ishizaki.
