CARSON, Calif. – Any chance for LA Galaxy to acquire Seattle Sounders FC forward Eddie Johnson is a “long shot” according to Club President Chris Klein.

A report in the Washington Post on Saturday stated that the Galaxy were among three teams (D.C. United and Chivas USA being the others) interested in Johnson, who scored nine goals and two assists during a tumultuous 2013 season for Seattle. The rumor comes amid statements from LA head coach and general manager Bruce Arena and Klein himself, that the Galaxy are interested in acquiring a target forward ahead of the 2014 season.

During a town hall forum with Landon Donovan during the club’s “Meet Your Seat” event on Sunday, Klein responded to the rumors.

“The rumors are out that we’re interested in him… it’s an odd thing, but he will not be back in Seattle, we know that for sure. Eddie’s a player that has done great things, he’s scored a lot of goals and he’s part of the national team,” Klein said. “I don’t want to say that we’re not interested in Eddie, but I think that it will be a longshot for him to be in a Galaxy uniform come 2014. However, we’re always looking for players who can add to what [our team does]. We’ll always be in the market."

Klein also noted that the Galaxy will have Marcelo Sarvas and Juninho returning for 2014 stating that the club feels “good about what they have” in central midfield which includes Baggio Husidic who was signed last month.

Thoughts on Klein’s statements on the Eddie Johnson rumors? Happy Sarvas is likely returning?

To prepare for the holiday season, I've compiled a list of interesting holiday items that you can buy for you or any other LA Galaxy or soccer fan in the family.

Check it out below.

LA GALAXY HOLIDAY BUNDLE

PRICE: $49.06

Perhaps the Galaxy's most impressive and extensive package for the holidays is this set of a galaxy t-shirt, scarf and Christmas tree ornaments . For my money, the tree ornaments might be the best bunch because after all who doesn't love kitschy Christmas tree decorations?

LA GALAXY HOLIDAY PACK

PRICE: Starting at $84

Don't forget the actual gift of an LA Galaxy game, of course. In the Holiday Pack, you can get four tickets to the home opener against Real Salt Lake and two LA Galaxy beanies.

GALAXY ORIGINALS QUASAR PRINT SHORTS

PRICE $75

Adidas sent me these shorts and the rest of the Galaxy Originals collection earlier this year and these shorts are certainly one of the best items included. Yes, they’re a bit pricy, but they’re a cool and subtle way to support the team plus they’re undoubtedly comfy.

LOS ANGELES AZTECS BUMPY PITCH SHIRT

PRICE: $30

Bumpy Pitch has created a number of qualify soccer lifestyle gear but my favorite is their black Los Angeles Aztecs shirt. The tee is high quality, fashionable and not to mention comfortable while also providing a tribute to the second most storied soccer team to ever play in Los Angeles. I’m happy to admit that I own this – and many other BP products – and it is in my regular rotation.

GALAXIANS T-SHIRT

PRICE: $20

The list would not be complete without some gear from the LA Galaxy’s supporters groups and this yellow t-shirt from the club’s oldest supporters group, the Galaxians is a must have no matter what SG you have. Anyone that appreciates retro yet modern soccer clothing will need to cop this shirt.

ANGEL CITY BRIGADE TOTE BAG

PRICE: $5

If bright yellow isn’t your scene, then take a look at this Angel City Brigade tote bag that has a variety of uses from hauling clothes or hauling groceries.  Remember that the proceeds from this item and the Galaxians shirt go directly to the SG’s as they look to add to the StubHub Center experience.

LA GALAXY JERSEY ART PRINT

PRICE: Mini $18 – X-Large $66

Jerry Seinfeld broke down sports fandom once stating that fans simply “cheer for clothes” and this is captured beautifully in my favorite piece of this list, an art print by Mark Yesilevskiy. The print of the LA Galaxy home jersey preparing to take a free kick is a must have for all Galaxy supporters. If you enjoy other teams, Yesilevskiy has a number of other options as well.

LANDON DONOVAN ART PRINT

PRICE:$35 - $75

Sticking with the theme of soccer art, how about a look at this fine Landon Donovan print of his celebration during the 2012 MLS Cup victory. At the price of $35 it is an affordable gift that would for well with any soccer themed decor.

LA GALAXY THIRD KIT REPLICA

PRICE: $79.99

What do I think of the LA Galaxy third kit? You already know that Adam Serrano likes this. After all with the slick color scheme and the subtle homage to the Galaxy's first kit and the city of Los Angeles...what's not to like?

FOOSEBALL BOTTLE OPENERS

PRICE: $48.00

Last but certainly not least are these Foosball bottle openers. At nearly 50 dollars, they’re a bit pricey, but anyone who grew up playing Foosball like I did would respect the novelty. After all, can you imagine pulling one of these little dudes out at a party?

LA Galaxy product Haji Wright is fresh off his five goal Golden Boot performance helping the U.S. Under-17's win the Nike International Friendlies.

Wright, Christian Pulisic, U-17 head coach Richie Williams, and goalkeeper Kevin Silva reacted to the U.S. performance following the Americans' 4-1 victory over Brazil in this video by U.S. Soccer.

Soccer fans are going to get a rare treat to honor a special member of American Soccer on Friday.

Landon Donovan is scheduled to play in goal for the Brian Ching Testimonial in Houston. Also, new goalkeeper coach Matt Reis is also scheduled to take part in some way.

You can watch the testimonial below.

13 December 5:38 pm

It’s been quite a week for LA Galaxy Academy forward Haji Wright.

The Galaxy Under-16 forward scored two goals during the U.S. 4-1 victory over Brazil to help the Americans win the Nike International Friendlies for a second year in a row. With his two goals against the Brazilians, Wright brought his total to five, taking home the tournament’s Nike Golden Boot.

It’s been quite a run this week for Wright who has started all three games in the tournament against the likes of Portugal, England and Brazil with a brace in each of the final two matches.  Wright began the week scoring the lone goal in U.S. 2-1 defeat to Portugal, but then shined in the U.S. victory over England with a pair of second half finishes that helped the Americans win 5-1.

The forward added to his account twice against Brazil as he gave the U.S. the lead in the eighth minute with an unassisted strike off a counter attack. After the South Americans equalized, the U.S. scored twice to take a 3-1 lead before Wright added the final tally with a left-footed finish off a Joe Gallardo cross. While Wright won the Golden Boot, U.S. goalkeeper Kevin Silva won the tournament's Golden Gloves and Christian Pulisic earned the tournament's Most Valuable Player award.

Sean Franklin is gone, but now who starts at right back in 2014 for the LA Galaxy?

The frontrunner for the position is veteran A.J. DeLaGarza who started 10 of his 28 regular season league appearances at right back in 2013.  This move would allow Galaxy head coach Bruce Arena to start Kofi Opare, Tommy Meyer or Leonardo alongside Omar Gonzalez at center back while Todd Dunivant remains a mainstay on the left-side of the defense.

Meanwhile, behind DeLaGarza is Homegrown defender Oscar Sorto who endured a mixed rookie season that saw him earn a place on the U.S. squad at the Under-20 World Cup and appear in two CONCACAF Champions League matches for the Galaxy.  Although the 19-year-old defender was impressive during the U-20 World Cup, he admittedly endured uneven form throughout the season including a poor showing in LA’s CCL group stage finale against Isidro Metapán in October. Heading into his second year as a professional, the Galaxy coaching staff will need Sorto to be more disciplined in training as he seeks to develop into a trusted backup behind DeLaGarza.

Regardless of what improvement that Sorto makes in the coming months, one would expect the Galaxy to use the MLS Re-Entry Draft or the 2014 MLS SuperDraft to bolster their right back depth.

Franklin’s departure will also have an impact on the right side of the midfield for LA as Hector Jimenez and Robbie Rogers appear to be front-runners to start out wide. Each player had moments of success in 2013, but the Galaxy will need greater consistency on the right next season. If Arena is unable to get steady production out of these two players, he may opt to place Landon Donovan along the right and push a player like young forwards Jack McBean, Jose Villarreal or Gyasi Zardes up top alongside Robbie Keane.

Matt Reis is ready for the latest chapter in his life.

In my latest piece for LAGalaxy.com, I speak with new goalkeeper coach Matt Reis as discusses his reasons for retirement and join Bruce Arena's coaching staff

During my conversation with Reis, I asked about his opinion of LA's current goalkeeping situation and the 38-year-old provided a glowing recommendation of the team's goalkeeper corps.

"I’ve seen Jaime Penedo play and I’ve liked him for a long time. I remember watching him in the Gold Cup final when the U.S. played Panama. I think our styles are very similar," said Reis. "The other two goalkeepers Brian Perk and Brian Rowe are both from UCLA and are both going to be exceptional goalkeepers. Perk came from the same [youth] club that I grew up in and went through some minor setbacks last year while Rowe was able to help earn the team get some tough results over the course of the season … They are three guys who have shown that they can compete at this level so it’ll be exciting competition. "

It bares mentioning that Reis did not mention goalkeeper Carlo Cudicini who is expected to depart the club.

Sean Franklin's time with the LA Galaxy has officially come to an end.

The longtime Galaxy right back was selected by D.C. United in Stage One of the 2013 MLS Re-Entry Process while LA passed on making a selection.

Franklin made 160 regular season appearances for the Galaxy during his six-year stint with the club scoring five goals and 20 assists. The two-time MLS Cup champion and 2008 MLS Rookie of the Year also made 18 appearances in the postseason scoring one goal and five assists. Franklin and D.C. United will return to StubHub Center on March 15 to face the Galaxy.

Also selected in the Stage One were Bobby Boswell (D.C. United), Marc Burch (Colorado Rapids), Corben Bone (Philadelphia Union), and Steve Zakuani (Portland Timbers).
