Robbie Keane has returned to full training ahead of Ireland’s World Cup qualifying match against Kazakhstan and Ireland manager Noel King is hopeful that he’ll be back in the starting lineup on Tuesday.

Keane was unable to make the squad for Ireland’s 2-0 defeat to Germany last Friday after suffering an ankle injury in training during the buildup to the match. However, the LA Galaxy captain and Ireland’s all-time leading goal scorer returned to full training on Sunday and King believes that he’ll be ready for Tuesday’s World Cup qualifying finale in Dublin.

"I am hoping he is fit for selection. Robbie is still recovering," King told reporters.

If Keane does play, it’ll be a good sign for the Galaxy as they’ll need their captain back and ready for selection by Sunday’s vital match against the San Jose Earthquakes.

Below is a round up of how Robbie Keane, Landon Donovan and Jaime Penedo fared on international duty on Friday.

*Robbie Keane was unable to suit up for Ireland’s 3-0 defeat to Germany after picking up an ankle injury earlier in the week. The 3-0 defeat eliminated Ireland from World Cup contention. Keane and Ireland will finish World Cup qualifying on Tuesday against Kazakhstan in Dublin.

*Landon Donovan went 45 minutes during the U.S. National Team’s 2-0 victory over Jamaica at Sporting Park in Kansas City, Kan. Graham Zusi and Jozy Altidore scored in the victory over the Jamaicans as the U.S. sealed the top spot in the Hexagonal.  After the match, U.S. head coach Jurgen Klinsmann told reporters that Donovan’s removal was “performance based.”  The U.S. will close out the Hex in Panama on Tuesday, but Donovan will not be joining them due to an ankle injury.

*The hopes of Jaime Penedo’s Panama were placed on life support on Friday as Los Canaleros fell 2-1 on Raul Jimenez’s dramatic bicycle-kick finish in the waning moments of the game. Penedo was not without his heroics as he saved a Javier “Chicharito” Hernandez penalty kick late in the second half (video is below). All is not lost for Penedo as Panama can still earn a berth in the two-leg World Cup playoff if they defeat the U.S. and Mexico falls to Costa Rica in a match where it fails to score two goals or more.

Think Panama can qualify? Will Keane play against Kazakhstan?

Landon Donovan is heading back to the LA Galaxy from U.S. National Team duty, U.S. Soccer announced on Saturday afternoon.

According to U.S. Soccer, Donovan picked up an ankle injury during the first half of the U.S. 2-0 victory over Jamaica on Friday at Sporting Park in Kansas City, Kan.

"Landon is still struggling with the ankle injury from a couple weeks ago, so he will go back to Los Angeles and try to get back to 100 percent," said Klinsmann in a release.

On Friday, U.S. head coach Jurgen Klinsmann had stated that Donovan was removed from the match with Jamaica due to a “performance-based decision.” Donovan wasn't the only change as Klinsmann also released Tim Howard, Jermaine Jones, and Sporting Kansas City's Matt Besler while calling in Chicago Fire goalkeeper Sean Johnson.

Donovan and Omar Gonzalez—who was released from national team duty last week with a hip injury—will face a fitness test ahead of Wednesday’s match against the Montreal Impact.  If Donovan does participate on Wednesday, he’ll have a chance to break Jeff Cunningham’s all-time MLS Regular Season goal scoring record.

RANCHO PALOS VERDES, Calif. – The LA Galaxy took some time from the grind of the playoff hunt on Friday to hit the links at Trump International Golf Course in Rancho Palos Verdes for the Galaxy Foundation Golf Tournament.

The tournament allowed the players to interact with fans and team sponsors alike and allowed several to test their own skills out on the links—yes even me, but we won’t get into that just yet. Throughout the day, I was driving around in a golf cart taking in the sights and sounds of the event, below is just a small snippet of all the fun.

Jurgen Klinsmann added three names to the U.S. National Team’s roster for their October World Cup qualifiers on Thursday while also sending injured Eddie Johnson back to Seattle Sounders FC.

Klinsmann added Brad Davis, Clarence Goodson and Chris Wondolowski to the squad while also removing Johnson from the squad due to a left groin strain suffered in training on Wednesday. He is scheduled to undergo an MRI on Thursday. With the additions, the squad is now at 22 players ahead of their matches against Jamaica on Friday and Panama on Oct. 15.

Think these additions lead to Landon Donovan returning to the LA Galaxy after the USMNT’s match against Jamaica?

The race for playoff berths in the wild, wild, Western Conference will go down to the wire.

No teams qualified for the postseason on Wednesday as Vancouver Whitecaps FC smashed second place Seattle Sounders FC 4-1 at CenturyLink Field powered by a hat trick by Kekuta Manneh.  With the result, the Whitecaps keep their dreams of the postseason on life support as they sit just three points behind a playoff berth.  Speaking of keeping hopes alive, the Earthquakes moved to within one point of a fifth place with a 1-0 victory over the Colorado Rapids as Chris Wondolowski notched his seventh game-winning-goal of the season.

With Wednesday’s results, the gap between West leaders Real Salt Lake and sixth place San Jose is just points. The LA Galaxy currently sit four points behind first place RSL with a game in hand. As for the gap between fourth place and the seventh spot? Just three points.

Out in the Eastern Conference, Sporting Kansas City and the Houston Dynamo played to a cagey scoreless draw. Sporting are now one point behind Supporters’ Shield leaders New York Red Bulls for the top spot in the league—and the East.

Landon Donovan is on the brink of breaking Jeff Cunningham’s all-time MLS regular season goal scoring record, but what does the man whose mark is about be broken think of the LA Galaxy forward’s accomplishment.

Cunningham, who scored 134 goals while making 365 appearances during his 14-year career in MLS while playing for six teams, spoke to’s Jeff Bradley earlier this week about the goal scoring record.  When asked about how he felt when Donovan tied his record, Cunningham handled the question with grace, mentioning his humble upbringings back in Jamaica.

“If you know my background, I grew up in Jamaica playing barefoot. My goal was to play professional. And now you’re asking me, interviewing me about being the all-time leading scorer, in a league that has produced many great players,” said Cunningham to Bradley. “And now I’m going to be passed by one of the best players in US soccer history. That’s a pretty good story. I’m proud of where I am, and what I’ve accomplished. I’m honored. To be asked these questions, to be mentioned alongside Landon Donovan, I’m humbled.”

But does Cunningham any words for Donovan as he prepares to pass him on the league’s all-time goal scoring chart?

“Landon, Landon, Landon ... you have every record in the US. Why couldn’t you just let me have this one?” Cunningham joked.

“No, really, I’m honored to be up there with him. I think the world of him and for me to be mentioned with him, that’s not too shabby, my friend."
