The LA Galaxy were awarded the Xbox MLS Team Fair Play award on Monday.

The award is selected by MLS based on objective criteria such fewest fouls committed and cards received as well as on the subjective evaluation of sportsmanlike behavior. The Galaxy defeated the Houston Dynamo and Vancouver Whitecaps FC for the award.

LA committed just 386 in the 2013 MLS regular season which was the third fewest amount in the league. Meanwhile, LA earned just 36 yellow cards, the lowest total in MLS. LA was also awarded just a single red card in 2013 after receiving six in the past two years.

MLS Cup 2013 will be held at Sporting Park after Sporting Kansas City erased an early one goal deficit to defeat the Houston Dynamo 2-1 and advance to the league championship.

Boniek Garcia put the Dynamo up after just three minutes, but Sporting leveled the score in the 14th minute after C.J. Sapong found the back of the net. In the 63rd minute, Dom Dwyer gave Kansas City the lead for good as he beat Houston 'keeper Tally Hall for the game winner which ends the Dynamo's streak of MLS Cup appearances at two.

Kansas City heads to the final for the first time since they won their first MLS Cup championship in 2004.

CARSON, Calif. – Veteran midfielder Colin Clark is not expecting to return to the LA Galaxy in 2014.

The 29-year-old midfielder is the subject of Friday’s LA Galaxy Insider Year in Review, in which he discusses his trying season with the Galaxy.  In 2013, Clark made 13 appearances with six starts in all competitions as he struggled to find consistent form throughout the year. As he looks ahead to next season, however, he’ll need to figure out just what went awry.

“I still need to talk to talk to Bruce Arena about next year, but I’m envisioning joining another team and going from there, and fighting for a spot,” Clark told LA Galaxy Insider. “I think I've got plenty of years left to give and I feel like I’m capable of playing in this league, but I need to find the right balance of training and games. I’m still hoping that I’m here next year, but at the end of the day, that will be determined by the coaching staff. One or the other, I’ll find out what happens and go from there."

LA Galaxy captain Robbie Keane has endorsed former teammate Mike Magee for a potential call-up to Ireland if he’s eligible.

In an interview posted by the tabloid the Ireland Herald, Keane stresses that new Irish head coach Martin O’Neill should consider the Chicago Fire striker who tallied 20 goals during his 2013 season.

“His whole family is Irish. His grandfather or father. He's not an international. I'd say he would [accept the call-up]. He definitely would like to but he's probably waiting for that American call-up. How he hasn't got it I don't know,” Keane told the publication. “He was a left-winger for us, a very clever footballer. Technically he's very good. He didn't start playing until he was 16. He never played as a kid. If he [O'Neill] asked me about him, I certainly would but I'm sure [assistant manager Roy Keane] and people would be fully aware of all the players available to them."

Keane has pushed for Magee to receive a U.S. call-up in the past even stating that Magee’s family ancestry is Irish, but whether he’ll be able to represent Ireland remains to be seen.

The Irish Independent also posted Keane's thoughts on Magee's eligibility for Ireland as well as his musings on Twitter, life in Los Angeles, and of course, turf.

The dreams of College Cup were extinguished for the Loyola Marymount Lions on Thursday as they were bounced from the NCAA Tournament by the Stanford Cardinal in a thrilling penalty kick shootout.

Former LA Galaxy Academy forward Christian Alvarado went 106 minutes during the match as Stanford advanced into the second round of the tournament by winning a penalty kick shootout three to two.

The victory by the Cardinal sets up a contest pitting the alma maters of multiple Galaxy players against one another as defender Todd Dunivant will take on Cal-State Northridge on Nov. 24 which produced LA defender Sean Franklin and midfielder Rafael Garcia.

Meanwhile, UCLA which boast multiple Galaxy Academy products will face Elon on Nov. 24 in Westwood while U.C. Santa Barbara and their two LA Academy alums host Penn State on Nov. 24.

CARSON, Calif. – Tommy Meyer endured the dreaded “sophomore slump” in his second year with the LA Galaxy, but the rookie is confident that he has the tools to put his career back on track.

In my latest LA Galaxy Insider Year in Review, I look back at Meyer’s season that saw him make just 11 appearances for the club. Meyer, who is hopeful of returning the Galaxy in 2014, admitted that his up and down form was largely attributed to confidence as he failed to lock down consistent minutes throughout the season.

But that isn’t the only thing that Meyer hopes to tighten up heading into 2014.

“If you play a consistent number of games at a time then you’re going to have that confidence and be able to build upon the game before as well as learn from your mistakes," Meyer said after admitting that he lacked confidence at time in 2013. "I also think that I’ll need to work on defending restarts, for sure, that’s a big key going into next year."
