CARSON, Calif. -- The battered LA Galaxy defense will welcome back outside back Dan Gargan ahead of their match with FC Dallas after a left sprained ankle forced the veteran defender from LA's victory over Toronto FC last week.
Gargan has participated in full training since Thursay and LA head coach Bruce Arena told reporters that the defender was in "fine" condition after missing out on the Toronto victory. The 31-year-old suffered the injury after a late challenge by New York Red Bulls defender Jamison Olave on Sept. 28.
A healthy Gargan could be a major boost for the Galaxy as Robbie Rogers (hamstring injury) and Omar Gonzalez (international duty) are doubts for the match against FC Dallas.
"My recovery is coming along...I feel good. It's [Bruce's] decision on whether or not to put me back in the lineup, but we'll see how it reacts," said Gargan. "But if I'm playing then I'd feel like I can go 90 minutes. We'll see how it goes."

U.S. Soccer has issued numerous tributes to Landon Donovan in the lead up his final appearance for the U.S. National Team and the latest has a distinctly academy feel.
In an interview with U.S. Soccer, current Galaxy U-17 and U.S. U-17 defender Hugo Arellano reflects on Donovan's impact on his own career and the career of other young players. Donovan was himself famously a member of the same residency program that Arellano -- and Galaxy U-16 goalkeeper Eric Lopez -- is a member of.
Bruce Arena leaving Omar Gonzalez's status for FC Dallas match up to U.S. head coach Jurgen Klinsmann
CARSON, Calif. – Landon Donovan is scheduled to be back in the fold for the LA Galaxy after appearing in Friday’s U.S. National Team match against Ecuador, but could Omar Gonzalez also be back in the lineup for the FC Dallas match?
According to Galaxy head coach Bruce Arena, the final decision will be left to U.S. head coach Jurgen Klinsmann on whether or not Gonzalez will rejoin the Galaxy or stay with the U.S. for their Oct. 14 friendly against Honduras in Florida.
“The decision will be made by the coach and what he thinks is in the best interest of his team and everything that he needs to do,” said Arena. “This is not an easy situation for a national team coach when he can’t rely on the domestic players because of the league. It’s not easy on anyone so he doesn’t need to be bugged by me during the week. It’s an awkward situation for everyone.
“It’s difficult on a national team coach and the best way to [fix the problem] would be to honor international dates if we can get to that point with our league, so that it doesn’t become such a challenge for everybody to make it work”
Landon Donovan will make his final appearance for the U.S. National Team on Friday during the national team's match against Ecuador, but before his final farewell, many are rushing to honor the greatest American soccer player ever.

CARSON, Calif. -- The LA Galaxy defense has been riddled with injuries as of late, but according to head coach Bruce Arena, LA may welcome back one -- or possibly two -- member of their walking wounded back to the lineup during Sunday's game against FC Dallas.
Right back Dan Gargan missed out on Saturday's game due to a left ankle sprain while Robbie Rogers suffered a left hamstring injury that forced him from the early stages of the victory over Toronto. Both players took part in portions of the Galaxy's training session on Tuesday and according to Arena, both are working their way back onto the field.
"They're doing fine. Their issues are very much short term," said Arena who said that he anticipated that one of them to be ready on Sunday. "We'll have to go into the week and see. It's only Tuesday right now."
CARSON, Calif. –Landon Donovan will take the field for a final time for the U.S. National Team this Friday against Ecuador and according to the Galaxy great, it couldn’t have happened without the influence of U.S. Soccer president Sunil Gulati.
Donovan was named captain for the match on Tuesday by U.S. head coach Jurgen Klinsmann, but the 32-year-old forward told reporters that he has yet to speak to the national team boss ahead of the game. While Donovan’s relationship with Klinsmann has been noticeably frosty since he was excluded from the U.S. squad for the 2014 FIFA World Cup,
“I give Sunil a lot of credit for making the effort to make this happen. He made sure that this was going to happen and I’m glad that he did. I wasn’t sure at first, but he did a good job of making sure that it all came together. I’m sure that it’s going to be a terrific event and I’m very excited.”
And when asked if his USMNT swansong would not have happened without Gulati’s sway, Donovan's answer was revealing.
“I don’t know for sure,” admitted Donovan. “But I’d say that’s a safe assumption.”
CARSON, Calif. -- LA Galaxy striker Landon Donovan will serve as the captain for his final U.S. National Team match which will take place this Friday against Ecuador in Hartford, Connecticut.
The match against Ecuador will help Donovan close out an impressive international career that included 157 caps and 57 goals as well as three World Cup appearances. Donovan will depart for Hartford on Thursday ahead of the game against Ecuador where he expects to have a ceiling on his minutes ahead of Sunday's Galaxy match against FC Dallas.
"I'm guessing I'll play 20 to 30 minutes," said Donovan.
