A look at who suited up for LA Galaxy II in their inaugural match

FRESNO, Calif. – LA Galaxy II won their inaugural game on Thursday with a 2-1 victory over the Fresno Fuego.

Although goal scorers Travis Bowen and Raul Mendiola are known quantities to Galaxy fans, many of the players were a mystery.

Below is a break down on the players who suited up for LA Galaxy II:

Starting Lineup:

Goalkeeper Cody Laurendi:  Trained with the Galaxy first team at the start of the season and spent the last two seasons with NASL club Ft. Lauderdale Strikers.

Right back Oscar Sorto: LA Galaxy Homegrown Player.

Center back Daniel Steres: Former San Diego State Aztecs defender who was drafted by Chivas USA in 2012. After being released by Chivas, he signed with Seattle Sounders FC for the duration of the season before spending last season with USL PRO club Wilmington Hammerheads.

Center back Bradley Diallo: A Olympique de Marseille youth product, the 23-year-old spent two years with English League One side Oldham Athletic before joining Royal White Star Bruxelles in the Belgian second division.

Left back Jason Bli: A 21-year-old French defender spent the last season with Paris FC. Bli made 11 appearances for the third division French club.

Right midfielder Aleksandar Djokovic: A 22-year-old former Serbrian youth international spent 2013 with Ironi Nir Ramat HaSharon in the Israeli first division.

Central midfielder Kenney Walker: LA Galaxy first team player. Walker spent much of last season on loan to the Carolina RailHawks of the NASL.

Central midfielder Dragan Stojkov: A 25-year-old former Macedonian youth international who spent the last four seasons with FK Jagodina of Serbia’s first division. Stojkov made 53 appearances for Jagodina over that span.

Left midfielder Raul Mendiola: LA Galaxy Academy graduate who is reportedly about to be signed by the Galaxy as their latest Homegrown Player.

Forward Travis Bowen:  Older brother of former Galaxy Homegrown forward Tristan Bowen. The 24-year-old spent last season with USL PRO side Phoenix Wolves FC before splitting time with Ventura County Fusion and the Portland Timbers U-23s.

Forward Jack McBean: LA Galaxy Homegrown Player.

Substitutions:

Forward Jaime Villarreal: Galaxy Academy U-18 and younger brother of LA Homegrown Player Jose Villarreal.  The 18-year-old has scored five goals for the LA U-18’s this year.

Forward Adonis Amaya: Galaxy Academy U-18 who committed to UC Santa Barbara for the upcoming Fall semester. The 17-year-old has scored 14 goals for the Galaxy U-18’s this year.

Center back Lee Nishanian: A four-year starter for Cal-State San Bernardino and two time selection to the All-California Collegiate Athletic Association first team.

Center back Logan Emory: Spent last season playing for Toronto FC before being waved and joining NASL club San Antonio Scorpions. Emory made 24 league appearances for TFC across two seasons.

Right back Eder Arreola: Spent the last year with Mexican Liga de Ascenso side Delfines del Carmen.  Drafted by the Houston Dynamo after starring for UCLA during four years, Arreola helped United States Adult Soccer Association club Cal FC reach the fourth round of the U.S. Open Cup in 2012.

Midfielder Laurent Courtois: Split 2013 between Chivas USA and the LA Galaxy. Courtois will serve as player-coach for LA Galaxy II in 2014.

Midfielder Alejandro Covarrubias: The midfielder will be a senior this season at Cal-State Dominquez Hills. Covarrubias played 18 games for the Toros in 2013 scoring six goals and five assists.

Midfielder Abraham Campos: The 24-year-old midfielder spent the past three seasons with the Fresno Fuego. Campos also had a brief stint with Club Inter of the Mexican third division.

Forward Aaron Lombardi: Galaxy Academy U-18 who has made 13 appearances this season scoring three goals.

Midfielder Eljiah Martin: Galaxy Academy U-18 who has played in 12 games for the youth side so far this season. The Fresno native has tallied one goal this season.

Goalkeeper Nick Shackelford: A 23-year-old goalkeeper from St. Louis University. Shackelford made starts in all four years with the Billikens.
