The excitement was high after the U.S. National Team's 2-1 victory over Ghana, but LA Galaxy striker Landon Donovan issued a note of caution in a interview on the Dan Patrick Show on Tuesday.
Donovan, who was controversially left off U.S. National Team head coach Jurgen Klinsmann's roster for the 2014 FIFA World Cup, spoke about the injury to Jozy Altidore and his impression of the team's mood heading into their second group stage match against Portugal. However, his most telling comment was regarding the allegations that Klinsmann had overtrained the team resutling in injuries to Altidore and center back Matt Besler.
“My guess is if you’ve having a bunch of muscle injuries and cramping and stuff like that, there was some factor involved, whether it was overtraining, whether [they] weren’t prepared for the heat," he said. "There was something that went on there, so you could be a little critical.”

Turns out, the third time was the charm for the United States.
John Anthony Brooks scored the game winning goal in the 86th minute as the U.S. defeated Ghana 2-1 in their Group G opener. Clint Dempsey gave the United States the lead just 34 seconds into the game before Andre Ayew equalized in the 82nd minute for the Black Stars before Brooks' dramatic winner for the USMNT.

EA released their video "Always in the Game" featuring Donovan playing the official 2014 FIFA World Cup video game and then singing "I'm not going to Brazil," a play off the American Outlaws chant "We are going to Brazil."
On Monday, LA Galaxy center back Omar Gonzalez will develop a lasting memory of his very first World Cup match when the U.S. takes on Ghana in their Group G opener.
But what about Gonzalez's first World Cup memory?
That goes back to the 1994 FIFA World Cup when Gonzalez was just a child living outside of Dallas.
"My first World Cup memory as a kid was at the Cotton Bowl, I got a chance to go to a few games as a volunteer," Gonzalez recently told LAGalaxy.com. "When I was there, my mom tells me that I used to mimic Bebeto's celebration."
Think Gonzalez will mimic that celebration if he scores?

If the LA Galaxy advance past Arizona United SC in the fourth round of the U.S. Open Cup, they'll be heading back to North Carolina.
The NASL's Carolina RailHawks defeated Chivas USA on Saturday after a dramatic penalty kick shootout that saw Carolina advance to the fifth round for the second consecutive year. Zack Schilawski and Ryan Finley traded goals in the first half, but the deadlock could not be reached as the match was decided in the penalties.
During the seven round shootout, Carolina goalkeeper Scott Goodwin made four saves to give Carolina the victory.
LA will look to take on Carolina by winning their U.S. Open Cup match in Arizona on Wednesday at Peoria Sports Complex. If LA win, they'll take on the RailHawks on June 24 at WakeMed Soccer Park.
LA Galaxy head coach Bruce Arena provided a preview of the 2014 FIFA World Cup in a special column in the Los Angeles Times earlier this week.
Arena offered his analysis of the tournament stating that a number of the traditional powers will compete for the trophy. In addition to providing his selections for the group stage, the Galaxy boss declared that the host nation Brazil will lift the trophy in July.
Think Brazil will take it as Arena says? Believe that Uruguay has a chance as I mentioned? Going with another team?
