LA Galaxy Academy defender Hugo Arellano scored as the U.S. U-17's crushed their counterparts from Costa Rica 5-2.

Arellano and one-time Galaxy Academy forward Haji Wright started the match as the Americans dominated from start to finish with Wright scoring three times. But it was the Galaxy's U.S. U-17 defender who scored the game-winner with his tally in the 51st minute.

The U.S. take on Canada on Oct. 3 before ending the tournament two days later against Panama.

CARSON, Calif. – Landon Donovan has cemented his place as the league’s all-time assist king by pulling level with New England Revolution mainstay Steve Ralston’s record of 135 career assists, but he also has a chance to have one of the best assist seasons in league history.

Donovan has tallied a league-leading 18 assists which is the highest total in seven seasons. With one more assist this season; Donovan will not only take sole possession of the record, but also tie five other players who tallied a total of 19 helpers in a single season.

Even if Donovan can take sole possession of the second highest single season assist total, it’ll be a stretch for him to catch Valderrama’s top mark of 26 assists in the 2006.

A complete table of Donovan's pursuit is below.

Omar Alejandro Gonzalez has excelled on the soccer field, but now he's looking to extend his reach to the film industry with his directorial debut in "Every Dog Has Its Day."

The defender turned director released his venture into filmmaking on Sunday with a adventure film detailing the trip of six friends to an unknown land. The brief film is a true tour de force. In EDHID, we get a chance to see Omar Alejandro's skills at not only piloting a DJII drone helicopter, but also several miles of rich Rancho Palos Verdes coastline.

Omar Alejandro displays a unique talent for incorporating Mother Nature into the story line while also interspersing several exciting cameos like LA Galaxy midfielder Baggio Husidic and man on a boat. It's no surprise that Omar Alejandro's work has already earned selection into the "Brendan Hannan Film Festival" and the coveted "ACB Choice" award.

All in all, the film is a triumph for Supporters' Shield films and has to be awarded FOUR paws up.

CARSON, Calif. -- LA Galaxy head coach Bruce Arena addressed the media after the Galaxy's 4-0 victory over New England Revolution.

Arena's comments are below.

(On Landon Donovan’s performance...)

ARENA: “He was a key figure in the first goal. In the second half, I thought he was outstanding. He showed his quality in the second half. Our team, in general, played quite well in second half. Give the Red Bulls credit, they had a good 15, 20 minutes in the first half where they put a lot of pressure on the team. We got better in the second half.”

(On Robbie Keane’s performance...)

ARENA: “Good performance. Two important goals. Obviously, the first one was a classic Keane goal. Spectacular goal. Overall, very good game.”

(On Jaime Penedo’s performance...)

ARENA: “He’s improved. I think over the last six weeks he’s played very well. Tonight, I think, he made a bunch of key saves in the first half to prevent the Red Bulls from getting back into the game. Like anyone else, [Jaime had to improve] a little bit in every area. He’s just gotten better. His confidence has improved. He’s feet have gotten better. He’s very good coming off his line on a couple of plays tonight.”

(On Landon Donovan tying the all-time assist record...)

ARENA: “Rarely do you see a player with the combination of being able to score goals and create goals. Those qualities are excellent. He used to be, I thought, purely a goal scorer. He’s a much better creator now. He’s a good passer of the ball. He’s improved. He’s gotten better. Him and Robbie [Keane] have been responsible for bring Gyasi [Zardes] along. I think their ability to pass and move is critical to our success.”

(On the remaining games of the season...)

ARENA: “I don’t want to do anything differently. We want to try and keep getting better as a team. There is certainly a bunch of challenging games ahead. We are playing teams to close out the season that all are important. Toronto is fighting for a playoff spot. Dallas is jocking for a good position. And obviously, Seattle is with us battling for the first spot. All these games mean something.”

CARSON, Calif. -- Gyasi Zardes' continued his career season with his 16th goal of the season in the LA Galaxy's 4-0 victory over the New York Red Bulls.

A danger from the moment the game started, Zardes found the back of the net off an impressive team build-up in the 69th minute of play.

“There was a through ball, I brought it back and passed it to [Stefan] Ishizaki and I ran off," he recalled. "I took a couple of touches with my left and I saw [Landon Donovan] just posted right there and I just played him in, got it right back and just tried to focus on putting the ball in the frame and it worked out pretty well.”

The goal extended his impressive scoring run of six goals in six gmes, but Zardes readily admitted that his goal against New York was certainly extra special as it came against his idol Thierry Henry.

“It feels good [to play against Henry]. I used to watch him when he used to play for Arsenal," said Zardes. "I was a kid sitting down on the couch and my dad watching every single game of his. Just to play on the same field as him is an incredible feeling. Just to score a goal on the same field as him is just a landmark within my career.”
