Kicks for Kids Recap - August 6, 2011
LA Galaxy vs FC Dallas
In a game that had extra incentive for the LA Galaxy, all of the fans including children from the Boys & Girls Club of Long Beach, Boys & Girls Club of North County, Children’s Learning Center, and Blythe St. Project - Casa Esperanza were excited and anxiously waiting for what the next 90-minutes had to offer.
The game started quickly when FC Dallas took the early 1-0 lead, 9 minutes into the match. The mood in the stands was quiet but changed soon after. The Galaxy tied the match at 1-1 in the 32nd minute as a free kick from David Beckham found its way to the back of the net leaving FC Dallas goalkeeper Kevin Hartman and defender George John puzzled.
The kids high fived one another and stood on their feet in anticipation for the rest of the match. In the 62nd minute, the Galaxy showed why they are the best team in the MLS and took the lead for good with their third and final goal of the match. The Galaxy finished 3-1 and kids in the section 127 held up three fingers signaling the amount of points earned by the Galaxy after this victory.
The Galaxy Foundation would like to thank its Kicks for Kids Community Partners for giving these groups the opportunity to attend Saturday’s exciting game.
