LA Galaxy vs. Chicago Fire - July 9, 2011
The LA Galaxy once again continued their winning streak against the Chicago Fire on Saturday, July 9. The LA Galaxy Foundation and its Kicks for Kids Community Partners donated tickets to beneficiary groups that support at-risk and underprivileged youth. Among these groups were David and Margaret Youth and Family Services, the Salvation Army-San Pedro Corps, Crittenton Services for Children & Families, and the Long Beach Youth Soccer League. Occidental College’s Upward Bound Summer Residential program brought in a massive 86 total participants, an impressive, lively group of middle and high school students! The Home Depot Center welcomed these various groups and other dedicated fans to watch the Galaxy successfully defeat the Fire.
The chilly, summer night did not stop the kids from cheering loudly for the team. Kids waved their “GO GALAXY!” gold and white towels and wrapped themselves in Galaxy blankets, keeping warm and their spirits high. The kids and chaperones created and brought “I LOVE GALAXY!” or “THANK YOU GALAXY!” signs and posters to show their pride and devotion after every goal or impressive move from their favorite players. With over 20,000 other screaming fans, the Kicks for Kids’ section 127 was clearly the most spirited, cheering on team players like Chad Barrett, Sean Franklin, and Todd Dunivant who played the full 90 minutes of the game.
The LA Galaxy Foundation is proud to give back to the community. Through the Kicks for Kids and its Community Partners, the Foundation is able to share the love of soccer.
