Three players with LA Galaxy connections have been named to the upcoming U.S. National Team Under-21 training camp that will take place at StubHub Center from April 20-24.

LA Galaxy Homegrown Players Jack McBean, Oscar Sorto and Jose Villarreal were named to the squad by U-21 head coach Tab Ramos. The U-21 squad was designed to serve as bridge between the U.S. U-20 squad and the U-23 group that will look to qualify for the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.  The camp will end with a friendly against Club Tijuana on Wednesday.

Both McBean and Sorto who are on loan with Galaxy II will join the camp after competing with LA’s U-18 squad at the Dallas Cup while Villarreal is currently on loan with Liga MX side Cruz Azul but has been assigned to their second division affiliate Cruz Azul Hidalgo for the duration of the 2014 Clausura tournament.

“We’re excited to bring some of our best young players together for this initial U-21 camp,” said Ramos in a statement by U.S. Soccer. “We’re hoping that we can have another two or three camps between now and the end of the year. This camp is purely to have the team together so that we begin moving in the right direction. When the time is right, we can put a group that has kept playing together and is familiar with each other in front of the permanent coach.”

The entire camp roster is below.

CARSON, Calif. – The LA Galaxy are moving slowly with the return of Todd Dunivant who returned to exercising on Thursday and is not expected to see the field in training until next week.

Dunivant has missed time since suffering an abdominal injury that forced him to exit LA’s 3-0 victory over Chivas USA on April 12. With Dunivant still unavailable for selection, the Galaxy will likely turn to A.J. DeLaGarza at left back for a second consecutive week as LA take on Vancouver Whitecaps FC on Saturday at BC Place.

“We’re just going to take it one day at a time,” said Arena of Dunivant’s status. “But we think that we can get him on the [training] field next week.

CARSON, Calif. -- The LA Galaxy won't simply taking on Vancouver Whitecaps FC on Saturday, but they'll also be battling the unforgiving turf surface at BC Place.

The turf surface which was much maligned by Galaxy captain Robbie Keane a year ago was the reason that LA held training on the StubHub Center's turf field on Tuesday. But even though the bounces and grooves of the artificial pitch will cause issues, one member of the Galaxy is unfazed by playing on turf.

Galaxy midfielder Stefan Ishizaki played on turf for seven years while with Swedish first division club IF Elfsborg and believes that experience will help him as he looks to help lead LA to their third straight win.

"It'll be a difference, but I played for eight years on turf when I was in Sweden I'm used to it and I hope that I can take my experience into the game and help us," said Ishizaki.

MLS is expanding.

On Wednesday, MLS announced the foundation of an MLS club in Atlanta, Georgia that will begin to play during the 2017 season. The club will be owned by Atlanta Falcons owner Arthur Blank and both the MLS side and the NFL team will play at a glittering new downtown stadium which will be built in 2017.

The buzz about the announcement reached LA Galaxy practice as head coach Bruce Arena and Southerner Chandler Hoffman offered their thoughts on the expansion into Atlanta

LA Galaxy II defender Daniel Steres has been named to the USL PRO team of the week with his role in Los Dos’ 3-2 victory over Oklahoma City Energy FC.

The Los Dos center back scored his second goal of the season in LA’s victory over Oklahoma City last Monday. Steres also started –albeit at right back—during LA’s 3-0 defeat to Sacramento Republic on Sunday.

The LA Galaxy II return to action this Saturday against Orange County Blues at the StubHub Center Track and Field Stadium.

CARSON, Calif. -- LA Galaxy goalkeeper Jaime Penedo has haunted Vancouer Whitecaps FC and he did so again on Saturday as he tallied four saves in LA's 1-0 win, but none was bigger than his stop of Kekuta Manneh which has been nominated for MLSsoccer.com's Save of the Week.

In the 32nd minute with Vancouver pressing for a goal, Kekuta Manneh capitalized on a deflection off Galaxy defender Omar Gonzalez and launched a shot from close range that was pushed away by Penedo.

Several weeks ago, British pop band Rixton visited LA Galaxy training and got the opportunity to train alongside LA captain and Ireland soccer legend Robbie Keane.

In this video by VEVO  -- a music video hosting service which is a joint venture by Universal Music Group, Google, Sony Music Entertainment and Abu Dhabi Media --  in their VEVO LIFT series, the Manchester-based group is profiled while at StubHub Center and LA Galaxy training. You might know the band from their single "Me and My Broken Heart" which peaked at 65 in the Billboard Hot 100.

Regardless of your musical tastes, the video is actually very well done, check it out below.
