Galaxy defeat LMU, 7-1, in scrimmage

The LA
Galaxy saw their first game action of the 2011 preseason, defeating Loyola Marymount
University 7-1 this
afternoon at The Home Depot Center. Chris Birchall scored twice for the Galaxy,
while Juan Pablo Angel, Gregg Berhalter
and Juninho each added goals as the Galaxy took a 5-0 lead into the halftime
break.

Bruce Arena
made 11 changes to his team at the break and got further goals in the second
half from Paolo Cardozo and Jovan Kirovski to claim a 7-1 win.

Of the 26
players currently in camp with LA, 22 saw action against the Lions, with only
Todd Dunivant, Dan Keat, Mike Magee and Donovan Ricketts rested.

The Galaxy
will play their first official game of the preseason (games against MLS or
professional opposition) on Tuesday when they take on the Portland Timbers.
