The 2011 MLS Cup Trophy Tour Visits the American Red Cross Donor Center in the SF Valley

WHAT:         

The LA Galaxy’s 2011 MLS Cup, the Philip F. Anschutz trophy, will make a special visit to the American Red Cross Donor Center in Woodland Hills.  Fans of all ages are invited to view the trophy and take photos. Plus, all presenting blood donors at this location can enter a drawing for four tickets to a Galaxy game at The Home Depot Center, located in Carson, Calif., next season.

WHY:           

The holiday season is a difficult time to collect enough blood for Southland patients in need.  Shopping, vacations, and other seasonal distractions lead to far fewer blood donations during the holidays.  The LA Galaxy and the American Red Cross are calling for eligible donors to donate blood and help make it possible for someone else to spend this holiday season with their own friends and family.

The LA Galaxy have been proud supporters over the years of the American Red Cross and its lifesaving mission.  Each season, the Galaxy feature a two month-long promotion thanking blood donors with two free tickets to a Galaxy home game.

The LA Galaxy earned the prestigious Philip F. Anschutz trophy on Sunday, November 20, at MLS Cup 2011 with a 1-0 win over the Houston Dynamo at The Home Depot Center. This is the Galaxy’s third MLS Cup title since their inaugural season in 1996.

There is no substitute for blood, it must come from healthy volunteer donors.  Any healthy person age 17 (age 16 with signed parental consent) or older and weighing at least 110 pounds may be eligible to donate blood. Valid identification is required for all blood donations.
