LA Galaxy acquire third position in MLS allocation ranking from D.C. United in exchange for defender Kofi Opare and 2015 second round MLS SuperDraft pick

Opare departs after two seasons with the Galaxy

CARSON, Calif. (Tuesday, July 29, 2014) – LA Galaxy have acquired the No. 3 position in the MLS allocation ranking from D.C. United in exchange for defender Kofi Opare, a second round pick in the 2015 MLS SuperDraft and the No. 11 allocation ranking, the club announced today. Per club and MLS policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

“This is a move that gives us the necessary flexibility to strengthen our roster,” said LA Galaxy Head Coach and General Manager Bruce Arena. “We thank Kofi for his contributions here and wish him the best in D.C.”

Opare was drafted by the Galaxy in the second round of the 2013 MLS SuperDraft out of the University of Michigan. He has appeared in 12 games for the Galaxy since entering MLS.
