LA Galaxy Part Ways with Designated Player Douglas Costa

LOS ANGELES (Monday, Oct. 23, 2023) – The LA Galaxy announced today that the club has parted ways with Designated Player Douglas Costa, who is out of contract and will not return to the Galaxy for the 2024 campaign. With the departure of Costa, the Galaxy have opened up a Designated Roster slot for the 2024 season.

“We’d like to thank Douglas for his contributions to the LA Galaxy,” said LA Galaxy Head Coach and Sporting Director Greg Vanney. “We wish him and his family the best in the next step of his career.”

Costa recorded eight goals and 12 assists in 51 appearances (36 starts) across all competitions in two seasons played for the LA Galaxy (2022-23). During the 2023 MLS Regular Season, Costa notched three goals and led the Galaxy with 10 assists in 19 games played (15 starts).
