20 for Twenty

LA Galaxy’s 20 for Twenty program continues throughout the holiday season

20 for twenty holiday meals

In continuation of the LA Galaxy 20 for Twenty program, the LA Galaxy Foundation and the StubHub Center Foundation hosted the 12th Annual Thanksgiving Foundations' Feast at StubHub Center on Monday, November 23rd. As a part of the event, StubHub Center General Manager Katie Pandolfo, alongside LA Galaxy player Rafael Garcia, President Chris Klein, as well as Galaxy and StubHub Center staff helped serve a complete Thanksgiving meal to 250 local children and families in need. An annual tradition at StubHub Center since 2003, this year’s event featured the serving of a full Thanksgiving buffet, including turkey, stuffing, and all of the trimmings. The event also included an LA Galaxy soccer clinic and arts & crafts activity zone for youth prior to the meal.

Marking the seventeenth 20 for Twenty event of the year, the Foundations hosted families from Los Angeles Department of Child & Family Services, Koinonia Family Service/Abuse Shelter, New Image Homeless Shelter, El Nido Family Services, Salvation Army Red Shield, Counseling4Kids, Trinity Youth Center, Casa Libre, Casa Pacifica, Elizabeth Learning Center, and Children’s Institute, Inc.

Following Thanksgiving celebrations, the LA Galaxy continued the holiday cheer with two additional 20 for Twenty events serving a Meal of Love at Los Angeles Ronald McDonald House on December 4th and hosting youth at their LA Galaxy Holiday Party on Dec. 6th at StubHub Center. The Ronald McDonald Meal of Love event allowed for LA Galaxy staff members to prepare dinner for over 50 youth patients and their families receiving treatment at local hospitals. The LA Galaxy Holiday Party invited 500 local youth to enjoy a day of carnival games, playing in the snow, holiday cookie decorating, and soccer with youth receiving an LA Galaxy holiday gift bag.

The LA Galaxy 20 for Twenty program celebrates 20 years of Major League Soccer in Los Angeles with 20 single-day service projects involving LA Galaxy players, coaches, front office staff and fans.

The LA Galaxy will complete their final 20 for Twenty project with AEG Service Day at Charles Barrett Elementary School in South Los Angeles on Friday, December 11th. To see a complete list of 20 for Twenty projects completed throughout 2015, please visit //www.lagalaxy.com/community/20fortwenty
