A skillful and talented midfielder, Miguel Lopez is in his first season with the Galaxy after being signed by the club on loan from Quilmes in January. Capable of playing wide on the left or in central midfield, as well as a second forward, Lopez helped Quilmes achieve promotion to Argentina’s Primera Division last season, when he was a teammate of Paolo Cardozo. He began his career in the youth system of Gimnasia La Plata, joining the club at the age of 10 and staying there for seven years. In 2005, Lopez joined Deportivo Coreano in the Torneo Argentina B, before signing with fellow Buenos Aires-based club Defensores Cambaceres in 2008. He moved on to Quilmes a year later, where he was spotted by Galaxy scouts, leading to his loan move.
2009-10: Signed with Quilmes in June 2009 and helped the club earn promotion to Argentina’s Primera Division a year later. He made 21 appearances for the club, making 15 starts. During his time at Quilmes, Lopez was a teammate of current Galaxy teammate Paolo Cardozo. 2008-09: Joined Buenos Aires-based club Defensores Cambaceres of the Primera C in 2008 and spent one year at the club before joining Quilmes. 2005-08: Made his first team debut with Deportivo Coreano in the Torneo Argentina B. He spent three years at the club. 1998-2005: Began his career in the youth system at Gimnasia La Plata, joining the club at the age of 10 and staying there for seven years.
