Checking Bryan Jordan's playlist

In preparation for the 2010 LA Galaxy home opener, we became curious to know how the players themselves get ready for game. So, we asked forward Bryan Jordan to let us take a peek at his pre-game playlist on his iPod.

Jordan’s pre-game playlist offers an interesting mix of rap, Hip-Hop and R&B songs. What immediately stood from his list where two R&B – which is a nice way of saying slower – songs. The songs may seem out of place, but there is a reason for their inclusion.

We sat down with Jordan, who explained the process he goes through when selecting his pre-game playlist.

BJ: Well, first off, the song needs to be a song that gets you going. Gets you pumped up with a fast beat and some hard hitting lyrics. So, most of the songs on my pre-game playlist are like that. But, at the same time, I don't really have any problems getting up for games. I get pumped up pretty naturally so some of the songs in there are calmer songs. Those songs help relax me on the way to the stadium, before I really get my blood moving.

LAGalaxy.com: Of the songs on your list, which song gets you most amped for a game?

BJ: The song that gets me most amped is the drake song called forever (the remix). I like it because it has a good beat, rappers I like in it, and some sick lyrics that I feel like I connect with.

LAGalaxy.com: Is there a lyric you specifically indentify that gets you ready for a game?

BJ: Yes, the lyrics from Forever by Drake:

It may not mean nothing to y'all
But understand, nothing was done for me
So I don't plan on stopping at all
I want this … forever

LAGalaxy.com: What’s a song that won’t EVER be on your pre-game playlist?

BJ: The song that will never be in my pre-game playlist would have to be.... YMCA. Only because from the looks of it that song got all those fools way too pumped up in that music video. Lol!!

Here’s a random sampling of Jordan’s playlist:

1. Drake - Forever (Remix)
2. 2Pac - To Live and Die in LA
3. Jay-Z - Empire State of Mind
4. 2Pac - Still Ballin
5. Lil Wayne - Something You Forgot
6. Taio Cruz - Break Your Heart
7. The Dream - Walking on the Moon
8. Young Buck - Get Buck
9. Eminem - Sing for the Moment
10. Dr. Dre - Still D.R.E.
