TEAM NOTES

BUDDLE MOVES UP ALL-TIME GALAXY SCORING CHART: With his two goals on Thursday, forward Edson Buddle is now tied with former Brazilian striker Welton on the club’s all-time scoring list. Since joining the club in 2007, Buddle has scored 28 goals with the Galaxy, which is good for sixth on the all-time scoring list. The New York-native is two goals shy of tying forward Eduardo Hurtado, who is fifth on the list with 30. The club is 13-5-5 in games in which Buddle scores.

After Hurtado, midfielder Mauricio Cienfuegos ranks fourth on the list with 35, followed by forward Carlos Ruiz with 51 and forward Landon Donovan with 64. Current Assistant Coach and former midfielder Cobi Jones is the Galaxy’s all-time scoring leader with 70 goals.

CLEAN AS A WHISTLE: With his second consecutive clean sheet to start the season, goalkeeper Donovan Ricketts has now recorded 11 shutouts in 28 games with the Galaxy and is already second in the club’s all-time history for most shutouts. Ricketts ranks two ahead of Matt Reis, who is third, and 51 behind Kevin Hartman, who is the club’s all-time leader in this stat.

DONOVAN AT TOP OF THE LEADER BOARD: Landon Donovan has now assisted on all three of the Galaxy’s goals this season, making him the MLS leader in assists. In 2008 and 2009, Donovan scored or assisted on each of the Galaxy’s first eight goals of the season and in 2007 he scored or assisted on each of their first seven.

FRANKLIN AND MAGEE EARN FIRST ASSISTS OF 2010: Defender Sean Franklin and forward Mike Magee earned their first assists of 2010 season. Franklin, along with Donovan, combined to assist on Buddle’s first goal on Thursday night. He recorded one assist in each of his first two seasons in MLS, including one in the second game of the 2009 season. Meanwhile, Magee combined with Donovan to collect his first assist of the season on Buddle’s second half goal. Last year he finished tied with Landon Donovan for the Galaxy team lead in assists with six.

GALAXY SCORING EARLY: Prior to the first two games of this season, the last time the Galaxy scored in the opening 10 minutes of consecutive MLS regular season games was on June 14 and June 21 of 2008 when Edson Buddle scored in the 6th minute of a 3-0 win at San Jose and Landon Donovan scored in the 4th minute of a 3-3 home draw with Columbus.
