The 2011 Miss LA Galaxy, presented by COVERGIRL, and her court were announced at halftime of the Galaxy's final regular season match against FC Dallas on Sunday, October 24. After over two months of events and appearances, Lara Hosseinzadeh from Corona, Calif. was crowned winner of the Miss LA Galaxy 2011 contest, presented by COVERGIRL®. As part of her award she earned a paid position on the 2011 court, $1,000 cash prize courtesy of COVERGIRL, a cruise vacation package courtesy of Bixby Travel Company, one year supply of COVERGIRL makeup, flower bouquet, crown and embroidered satin sash and gifts from participating sponsors.

A high school teacher in the Riverside Unified School District, Hosseinzadeh was also the Fan’s Choice Winner and received a $100 cash prize for receiving the largest number of votes that were cast online.
“This experience has truly been a blessing and I can't believe it has only just begun. I am so excited to take on the role of Miss LA Galaxy and start to make a difference in the lives of people I encounter,” said Hosseinzadeh, who holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a master’s in education from the University of Riverside California. “With my passion for education and helping the community, I feel in my heart that this experience with the Galaxy will be one that will last a lifetime. A big thank you Galaxy, COVERGIRL, Bixby Travel company and to all the fans who voted and supported me along the journey. I am eternally grateful. Go Galaxy!"
Hosseinzadeh, who’s father is from Iran and mother is from Mexico and speaks both Farsi and Spanish, defeated nine other finalists in the contest, which was held on the main concourse of The Home Depot Center prior to the Galaxy’s regular season finale against FC Dallas on Sunday, October 24.
Among her hobbies, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, learning how to deejay and traveling the world. She also enjoys volunteering and always encourages her students to do the same at area nursing homes for the elderly, by planting trees in troubled neighborhoods or by assisting with various food drives, among other things.
Those named to the 2011 Miss LA Galaxy court were: 1st Runner Up – Kathleen Ibarra – receives a paid position on 2011 court, $500 cash Prize, flower bouquet and embroidered satin sash, 2nd Runner Up – Monique Garcia – receives a paid position on the 2011 court, $200 Cash Prize, flower bouquet and embroidered satin sash, and 3rd Runner Up – Chelsea McGrath – receives a paid position on the 2011 court, $200 Cash Prize, flower bouquet and embroidered satin sash.
All finalists, including the 2011 court, received a gift bag, including COVERGIRL makeup and various Galaxy prizes.
All ten finalists have spent the past few months representing the Galaxy at over 40 events and appearances, as well as interacting with fans at Galaxy home matches and doing interviews for both radio and TV. Before the match, the ten finalists competed in one final competition consisting of sportswear, personal interviews, modeling, and a segment of team trivia. The winner was the girl who received the highest total points in a number of categories including congeniality, public and private interviews, sportswear, evening wear, and trivia.

The Miss LA Galaxy contest was created to recognize females who are involved in their community, support community soccer and the LA Galaxy. The winner was chosen based on her poise, confidence, public speaking abilities and academic success.
