CARSON, Calif. (Tuesday, November 30, 2010) – LA Galaxy forward Edson Buddle and defender Omar Gonzalez will join members of the LA Galaxy Youth Academy, hundreds of fans and officials at the ESPN Zone L.A. Live to watch FIFA’s historic announcement of the 2018 and 2022 World Cup Host Nations this Thursday, Dec. 2 at 6:30 a.m. PT.
Designated by the U.S. World Cup Bidding Committee as an Official Viewing Party, the Zone will have more than 100 television monitors showing the official announcement being made live from Zurich, Switzerland. The restaurant will provide a complimentary breakfast for everyone in attendance and parking will be just $5 for the event. Miss LA Galaxy and her court will also be signing autographs and the Galaxy street team will hand out giveaways and raffle off a 2010 team signed soccer ball. A member of the 2010 U.S. World Cup squad in South Africa, Buddle enjoyed the best season of his 10-year MLS career in 2010, scoring a career-high 17 goals. One of seven players in MLS history with 90 career goals, Buddle tallied nine of his 17 goals with his right foot, five with his head and three with his left foot. LA was 13-1-1 when Buddle scored a goal.
The 2009 MLS Rookie of the Year, Gonzalez made his international debut with the U.S. National Team earlier this year in an international friendly against Brazil. This past season, Gonzalez appeared in and started 28 of the Galaxy’s 30 games this season, scoring twice. His 28 starts and 2,520 minutes played were the most for any outfield player on the club, playing the full 90 minutes in each of those games.
