A day after acquiring the rights to veterans Juan Pablo Angel and Frankie Hejduk via the Re-Entry Draft, the LA Galaxy announced on Thursday they have re-signed midfielder/forward Jovan Kirovski.
Per team and league regulations, details of the contract were not released.
LA had originally declined the option on Kirovski's contract, which had expired at the end of the 2010 season, making the 34-year-old eligible for the Re-Entry Draft.
However, after he was passed over in the first stage, Kirovski removed himself from contention and was reportedly in discussions with the Galaxy about signing a new contract.
Kirovski has played in more than 100 games for the Galaxy during two stints with club. The Escondido, Calif., native finished 2010 as the club's third-highest goal-scorer, tallying four goals and adding two assists in 21 regular-season appearances. He bagged a brace in a 4-1 defeat of Houston on June 5, which was his first career multi-goal game.
A veteran of the US national team, Kirovski made 62 appearances and scored nine goals, the majority of which came under current Galaxy and former US head coach Bruce Arena.
The signing follows Wednesday's announcement that emerging forward Tristan Bowen, the club's first-ever Home Grown player, had been traded to stadium roommates Chivas USA.
Additionally, the club's leading scorer of 2010, Edson Buddle, is trialing in England with EPL outfit Birmingham City. Buddle's MLS contract is set to expire at the end of this calendar year.
