CARSON, Calif.– The LA Galaxy today acquired forward Adam Cristman from D.C. United in exchange for the Galaxy’s first round pick in the upcoming 2011 MLS Supplemental Draft. A four-year MLS veteran, Cristman spent the first two years of his career with the New England Revolution before joining the Kansas City Wizards (now Sporting Kansas City) in 2009 and D.C. United last year.

Cristman, who turned 26 last week, has 12 goals and six assists in 68 career regular season games. A strong and powerful forward, he was a finalist for the MLS Rookie of the Year award in 2007 when he had four goals and four assists in a career-high 28 games with the Revolution. A year later, Cristman scored a career-best six goals despite being limited to just 18 games because of a toe injury. He was traded to Kansas City prior to the start of the 2009 season, but he was limited to just five appearances because of a fractured metatarsal that required surgery.

Cristman was on the move again prior to the start of the 2010 season, joining D.C. United. He appeared in 17 games for United last season, making eight starts while tallying two goals and an assist.

A native of Glen Allen, Va., Cristman played four years at the University of Virginia, scoring 34 goals and adding 15 assists while helping lead the Cavaliers to the NCAA Tournament four times. He was selected by New England in the fourth round of the 2007 MLS SuperDraft.

Cristman and the Galaxy will open the 2011 MLS season on Tuesday, March 15 when they head to Seattle to take on the Seattle Sounders FC at Qwest Field in MLS First Kick 2011, presented by Dick’s Sporting Goods. That game, which will kick off at 6:30 p.m., will be shown live on ESPN and ESPN Deportes, as well as online at ESPN3.com. The Galaxy will then host the New England Revolution in their home opener at 5 p.m. on Sunday, March 20 at The Home Depot Center. Tickets are available for that match through the Galaxy Kickoff Pack, which includes four tickets and two Galaxy blankets, starting at $96.  BUY NOW
