Beckham extends training stint at Tottenham

David Beckham has spent the winter training with Tottenham.

David Beckham has extended his training stint with Tottenham Hotspur and will not return to the LA Galaxy until Feb. 24, according to the London-based club.

Beckham was initially due to return to the United States on Feb. 9 to join the Galaxy as they prepare for the 2011 campaign.

The midfielder joined Harry Redknapp's Spurs on Jan. 10 in an effort to stay fit during the MLS offseason. Reports at the time suggested he would seek a winter loan there, though this fell through following complications with insurance issues.

The former England captain has spent the past three winters either training or on-loan with a European club in the hopes of staying in the England national team picture.

In March of last year, while playing for Italian giants AC Milan, he ruptured his Achilles tendon, causing him to miss both the World Cup and the majority of the 2010 MLS season. He returned to LA to play 10 games, tallying two goals and three assists in league and postseason play.

The 35-year-old is not on the England roster for Wednesday's friendly against Denmark.

Redknapp has expressed an interest in bringing Beckham to Tottenham on a permanent basis when his contract with the LA Galaxy expires at the end of November.
