Disciplinary Committee suspends, fines Carrasco, Kirovski

NEW YORK – The MLS Disciplinary Committee has suspended Seattle Sounders FC midfielder Servando Carrasco for one game and fined him $500 for his reckless challenge on Chicago Fire forward Patrick Nyarko in the 90th minute on April 9. Carrasco received a yellow card for the foul, but the Committee determined that the challenge endangered Nyarko’s safety. Carrasco will serve his suspension Saturday, April 16 when Seattle plays Philadelphia Union.

The Committee also issued supplemental discipline to LA Galaxy midfielder Jovan Kirovski for his verbal abuse of the official after the April 9 game against D.C. United. Kirovski received a red card for his actions after the final whistle. In addition to the automatic one game suspension and $250 fine which accompanies the red card, the Committee has suspended Kirovski for one game and fined him an additional $750 for a total suspension of two games and $1,000. Kirovski served the first game of his suspension during the Galaxy’s game in Toronto on Wednesday night; he will serve the second game on Sunday, April 17 when the Galaxy plays the Chicago Fire.
