SAN JOSE, Calif. – The LA Galaxy fell to 0-3-0 in Reserve League play this season with a 3-0 loss to the San Jose Earthquakes on Monday at the Nutrilite Training Facility. Turkish trialist Sercan Güvenisik led the way with a pair of first half goals for the Earthquakes while Ellis McLoughlin scored a third late on for the hosts.

Güvenisik opened the scoring in the 15th minute, diving to head home service from Tim Ward. After a Ryan Thomas handball, Ward swung in a freekick from 35 yards out for Güvenisik to head past Brian Perk, who was making his Reserve League debut, giving the Earthquakes a 1-0 lead.

It was 2-0 seven minutes later when David Frank lofted a cross over the Galaxy back line and picked out Güvenisik. The trialist took a touch to his right and then calmly placed a shot past Perk, making the score 2-0 in the 22nd minute

Despite trailing, the Galaxy began the second half brightly and created a number of chances. In the 52nd minute, Bryan Jordan beat his man on the right and whipped a cross in front of goal for Hector Jimenez, whose diving header went just wide of the target.

Minutes later, Paolo Cardozo raced onto an Adam Cristman through ball, only to send his shot wide. Then, in the 68th minute, Cardozo got free at the top of the box and fired a shot that beat San Jose goalkeeper David Bingham, only to be cleared off the line by Brandon McDonald, keeping the San Jose lead at 2-0.

With the Galaxy continuing to push forward, Ellis McLoughlin sealed the win for San Jose with a right-footed shot from 30-yards out to make the score 3-0.

In addition to losing the game, the Galaxy were forced to take Kyle Davies out in the 17th minute of his Galaxy debut with an ankle injury, that will be evaluated upon the team’s return to Los Angeles.

The Galaxy are back in Reserve League action on Monday, June 13 when they travel north to take on Seattle Sounders FC at the Starfire Complex in Tukwila, Wash.
