CARSON, Calif. – The LA Galaxy announced today that they will host Noche Latina on Saturday, June 11 when the club takes on Toronto FC at The Home Depot Center. That game, which is presented by MLS COPA Budweiser, kicks off at 7:30 p.m. and will be broadcast live on Prime Ticket. Highlighting the evening will be the championship game of the 2011 MLS COPA Budweiser tournament, which will be on the stadium field beginning at 5:45 p.m.
The MLS COPA Budweiser 6v6 Finals, featuring the top 40 finalists from 19 cities, will be played throughout the day on the outside fields of The Home Depot Center (starting at 9 a.m.), and culminate with the championship game on the stadium field. The overall champion will receive a once-in-a-lifetime trip to Argentina to represent the United States in the Global Beer Champions tournament this summer during Copa America at the legendary La Bombonera. Besides watching a thrilling soccer tournament, fans that arrive early will also enjoy player appearances, music, performances, and the presence of the Budweiser girls.
Prior to the Galaxy game, SoccerFest will have a distinct Latin atmosphere beginning with a traditional Mexican welcome by the Mariachi Academy. SoccerFest will also feature musical performances by T-Rio, a Brazilian trio, and Son Del Sur, a Latin fusion band, on the main stage. In addition, T-Rio will perform the national anthems for both the U.S. and Canada as part of the pregame ceremonies prior to kickoff.
Former El Salvador and LA Galaxy midfielder Mauricio Cienfuegos will be meeting with fans and signing autographs on the main concourse from 6:20 p.m. to 7:20 p.m. A Galaxy legend, Cienfuegos led the club to their first three championships, helping the Galaxy won the 2000 CONCACAF Champions Cup, 2001 U.S. Open Cup and 2002 MLS Cup.
Additionally, Budweiser will be hosting an appearance from Mexican international Francisco “Paco” Palencia, who recently led UNAM Pumas to their seventh Mexican First Division championship by beating Morelia in the 2010-11 Clausura Championship. Palencia will be meeting fans and signing autographs from 6:45 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on the main concourse.
Budweiser will also be adding to the night’s festivities by providing an appearance from Republica Deportiva’s Senadoras, the Budweiser girls, and performances by the Futbol Kings to take place at SoccerFest.
