LA Galaxy to host U.S. Open Cup Third Round game at Titan Stadium on Tuesday, June 28

CARSON, Calif. (Thursday, June 16, 2011) – The LA Galaxy announced today the club will host their Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Third Round game at Cal State Fullerton’s Titan Stadium on Tuesday, June 28. The Galaxy, who are one of eight MLS team that will enter the Open Cup in the Third Round, will face the winner of next week’s Second Round game between the Los Angeles Blues (USL PRO) and Ventura County Fusion (PDL).


Tickets for this game, which will kick off at 7:30 p.m., are on sale now through the Galaxy by calling 1-877-3GALAXY (342-5299). Tickets are available starting at just $10 in General Admission and $20 in Premium General Admission sections, located on the West side of the stadium.


The Galaxy, who won the Open Cup in 2001 and 2005, have played in the Third Round of the tournament six times, going 5-1 in those games, winning in 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002 and 2010, with their lone loss coming in 2007. From 2003-2006, the Galaxy entered the Open Cup in the Fourth Round.


In addition to winning the Open Cup in 2001 and 2005, the Galaxy reached the Open Cup Final in 2002 and 2006, while reaching the tournament’s semifinals in 2000 and 2003.


The Galaxy are in action on the road this weekend as they take on the defending MLS Cup champion Colorado Rapids at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park on Saturday, June 18. This weekend’s game between the two sides kicks off at 6 p.m. (PT) and can be seen on FOX Sports West on tape delay. The Galaxy Live pregame show can be seen at 7:30 p.m., with the game following at 8 p.m.
