LA Galaxy vs Real Madrid Traffic Advisory

Galaxy Launches web page to assist fans coming to the LA Memorial Coliseum on July 16

CARSON, Calif. (Monday, July 11, 2011) – Understanding that the closure of one of Los Angeles’ busiest freeways may pose a challenge for some of their fans to attend the game on July 16, the LA Galaxy today announced it has created a web page www.lagalaxy.com/realmadridinfo designed to assist those attending the LA Galaxy vs. Real Madrid match to find the easiest route to the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. This game, which is part of the Herbalife World Football Challenge, kicks off at 7 p.m.

“We understand many people’s concerns regarding the upcoming freeway closures and as a result we have created a unique page on LAGalaxy.com that will give everyone attending the game the ability to find the easiest routes and methods to get to the Coliseum,” Galaxy President Tom Payne said. “Whether you are coming from the area directly affected by the closure or unaffected areas, we are encouraging everyone leave a little earlier, make a day of it, by enjoying the pregame festivities such as tailgating and the Fan Zone, which opens at 3 p.m. outside the gates of the Coliseum.”

Through LAGalaxy.com, fans will be able to plan alternate routes and transportation methods to the stadium so as to best avoid traffic that might be caused by the 10-mile closure of the I-405 Freeway. Some of the features included on the page are general driving directions to the Coliseum with alternate routes from the affected areas, detailed public transportation information - free fares are being offered on some Metro bus and Metro Rail lines on Saturday, July 16 and Sunday, July 17 - a list of nearby hotels with special discounted rates, parking lots, mobile traffic apps and suggested twitter feeds to follow for real time traffic information.

“We are excited for what should be an amazing and memorable event for everyone as David Beckham, Landon Donovan and Juan Pablo Angel step onto the field against Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo, Kaka and Iker Casillas”, Payne added. “We have proven over the years that these games are can’t miss events of the summer, so if you are a fan of the game you do not want to miss out.”

To access the LA Galaxy vs. Real Madrid Traffic Advisory web page, featuring directions to the stadium, details about public transportation options, and a list of local hotels, as well as stadium and parking information for the Coliseum, including a full schedule for World Football Challenge Fan Zone, which will have food, interactive activities and live music beginning at 3 p.m., please click here.
