CARSON, Calif. (Wednesday, October 19, 2011) – Four of the six Galaxy Academy teams were in action last weekend while the club’s U-16 and U-18 teams had a bye week. Five games were played in total with the Galaxy Academy teams going 2-1-2 in those matches.

MATCH RECAPS

LA Galaxy U-12’s 0, Golden State 1                 Saturday, October 15               Veterans Sports Park (Pomona)
The LA Galaxy U-12’s fell to Golden State, 1-0, on Saturday at Veterans Park in Pomona. The loss is the second for the club in consecutive weeks. In addition, the result marked the second time they have been shutout all year. The Galaxy dropped to second place in the standings and are now 4-2-0 overall.

LA Galaxy U-12’s 1, Pateadores 0                    Sunday, October 16                 Don Juan Avila Middle School
The Galaxy U-12’s snapped a two-game losing streak by beating the Pateadores, 1-0, on Sunday at Don Juan Avilla Middle School in Aliso Viejo, Calif. Jardan Aldama and Alain Hernandez combined for the shutout. With the win, the Galaxy improved to 5-2-0 and moved into a six-team tie for first place.

LA Galaxy U-13’s 2, Real So Cal 2                   Saturday, October 15               Pierce College
Christian Perez and Ateno Ajeakwa each scored a goal as the Galaxy U-13’s tied 2011 National Cup Finalist Real So Cal, 2-2, on Saturday at Pierce College. Down 1-0 at halftime, the Galaxy tied the game early in the second half with Perez’ fourth goal of the season and then took the lead midway through the second half on Ajeakwa’s first of the campaign. After Real So Cal tied the game at 2-2, it looked like the Galaxy scored the game-wining goal late in the game, but offside was called on the play and the game ended in a draw. The Galaxy are now 3-1-2 overall.

LA Galaxy U-14’s 2, Arsenal 2                          Sunday, October 16                 Sierra University
Andrew Kennedy and Caesar Farias each scored a goal as the Galaxy U-14’s earned a 2-2 draw against Arsenal on Sunday at Sierra University in Riverside. The Galaxy got off to a great start, taking a 1-0 lead on Kennedy’s goal in the 5th minute. The club then doubled their lead in the 27th minute on Farias’ score. But a red card in the 32nd minute left the Galaxy shorthanded. Arsenal took advantage of the man advantage and scored two goals in the second half. The U-14’s are now 3-0-3 overall and third place in the standings.

LA Galaxy U-15’s 2, Chivas USA 1                    Saturday, October 15               Veterans Sports Park (Pomona)
Christian Onalfo and Rolando Muñoz each scored as the Galaxy U-15’s beat rival Chivas USA, 2-1, on Saturday at Veterans Park in Pomona. It didn’t take long for the Galaxy to get on the board in this match. Onalfo scored his first goal of the season in the 12th minute, giving his squad a 1-0 lead. Muñoz then added to lead with a fantastic strike in the 43rd minute to put his side up 2-0. Chivas scored once in the second half, but it wasn’t enough as the Galaxy improved to 5-1-0 and remain in second place in the standings ahead of their meeting with first place Real So Cal, which currently have a three point lead on the Galaxy.
