LA Galaxy to celebrate MLS Cup win with the fans

CARSON, Calif. – The MLS Cup 2011 champion LA Galaxy will celebrate their third MLS championship with their fans by giving Galaxy supporters throughout the region a chance to get close to the trophy through a series of appearances and a special Season Ticket Holder appreciation event.


GALAXY FANS CAN TAKE PHOTOS WITH CUP AT THE HOME DEPOT CENTER ON WEDNESDAY:

The celebration began on Tuesday night with fans coming to The Home Depot Center to have their photo taken with the Philip F. Anschutz trophy awarded Sunday night to the LA Galaxy for winning the league championship. It will continue at the stadium on Wednesday from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. with fans able to have their picture taken with the trophy. Additionally, while this event is open to all fans to attend, as a special bonus for Galaxy Season Ticket Holders, the first 2,011 of them to have their photo taken will also receive a 1’x1’ piece of the field on which Galaxy won their third MLS championship on Sunday night, including care instructions.


MLS CUP AT DINNER FOR 2,000 PICO-UNIONRESIDENTSON WEDNESDAY AT L.A. LIVE:


The Trophy Tour continues tomorrow at the L.A. LIVE Event Deck, where The Salvation Army, in conjunction with STAPLES Center Foundation and Aramark, will serve a holiday dinner to more than 2,000 residents of the nearby Pico-Union area of Los Angeles. The trophy will make an appearance at 6 p.m.


MLS CUP SPENDS THANKSGIVING AT THE MIDNIGHT MISSION THURSDAY MORNING:

On Thanksgiving morning, AEG President & CEO Tim Leiweke will be on hand with the trophy at the Midnight Mission in Skid Row to serve a traditional Thanksgiving dinner to 2,500 homeless and near-homeless at 10 a.m.


PHILIP F. ANSCHUTZ TROPHY ATTENDS KINGS GAME DECEMBER 8:

In addition to the Thanksgiving meals and the celebrations at the stadium, the trophy will also be at the ESPN Zone at L.A. LIVE and the Los Angeles Kings game at STAPLES Center on Thursday, December 8.

On Sunday, the LA Galaxy won their third MLS Cup title in club history with a 1-0 win over the Houston Dynamo at The Home Depot Center. Galaxy captain Landon Donovan, who scored the game-winning goal in the 72nd minute, was named MLS Cup MVP while Bruce Arena became the first coach in MLS history to win MLS Cup three times.
