CARSON, Calif. (Friday, January 27, 2012) – The 2011 MLS Cup Champion LA Galaxy will be distributing soccer equipment, which was collected as part of the Galaxy Drive Series - 2011 Equipment Drive, on Saturday, January 28 at the Antelope Valley Family YMCA from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The Official Equipment Drop Off presentation will take place at noon. The equipment drop off will include the official presentation, interactive stations featuring the Galaxy Street Team, two soccer skills areas and a meet and greet with defender Sean Franklin. Approximately 100 children, ages 7-12, will be in attendance.
The Galaxy’s 2011 Humanitarian of the Year and Equipment Drive spokesman, Sean Franklin (Highland High School), who attended the Antelope Valley Family YMCA as a youth, will assist with the distribution of the soccer equipment, sign autographs and interact with the kids.
The Galaxy Drive Series is a community initiative where the Galaxy's Community Development department partners with fans to conducts food, clothing, and school supplies drives aimed at assisting local non-profit organizations.
The LA Galaxy will return to competitive action on Wednesday, March 7 when they take on Toronto FC in the first leg of their 2011/12 CONCACAF Champions League Quarterfinal, which will be played at Rogers Centre in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. They will open the 2012 MLS season three days later on Saturday, March 10 when they host Real Salt Lake at The Home Depot Center in MLS First Kick 2012, presented by Dick’s Sporting Goods.
