CARSON, Calif. (Wednesday, February 29, 2012) – LA Galaxy defender Omar Gonzalez as well as midfielders Kyle Nakazawa and Jose Villarreal will make a series of community appearances this week as part of the Galaxy Caravan – Countdown to Kickoff, including two Fan Stops at local elementary schools as part of the club’s efforts to support Read Across America Day.
Villarreal will be at Catskill Elementary School on Thursday, reading selected Dr. Seuss books to kids from 8:30-9 a.m. in the school library. The following day, Gonzalez, Nakazawa and Villarreal will be at Eshelman Avenue Elementary School in Lomita from 8:30-9 a.m., reading more Dr. Seuss books to students.
In addition to those two appearances, Kyle Nakazawa will be making three appearances along with the MLS Cup trophy as part of the Galaxy Caravan – Countdown to Kickoff. On Thursday evening, Nakazawa will be at the Auld Dubliner in Long Beach from 6:30-7:30 p.m. The following night he will be at Alpine Village in Torrance from 6-8 p.m. before appearing at The Home Depot in Huntington Park from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. on Saturday. Fans will have the opportunity to meet Nakazawa at all three of these events while also taking photos with the MLS Cup, collect Galaxy Caravan giveaways and enter to win Galaxy tickets.

The Galaxy will play their first official game of 2012 on Wednesday, March 7 when they face Toronto FC in the first leg of their 2011/12 CONCACAF Champions League Quarterfinal, which will be played at Rogers Centre in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. They will open the 2012 MLS season three days later on Saturday, March 10 when they host Real Salt Lake at The Home Depot Center in MLS First Kick 2012, presented by Dick’s Sporting Goods.
