CARSON, Calif. (Thursday, March 8, 2012) – The LA Galaxy announced today that the club along with Time Warner Cable Sports have reached a partnership with KDOC-TV and KWHY-TV to be the official English and Spanish language television broadcast networks of the Galaxy in 2012. A complete broadcast schedule, including all local and national broadcasts for both English and Spanish language television and radio can be found online at www.lagalaxy.com/schedule/broadcast.

With 15 of the club’s 34 regular season games being broadcast by one of the Major League Soccer’s English language national broadcast partners, ESPN and NBC Sports Network, KDOC-TV will broadcast a total of 18 Galaxy regular season games, starting with the 2012 regular season opener against Real Salt Lake this Saturday, March 10 at 7:30 p.m. In addition to the MLS regular season opener, KDOC-TV will also carry home games against Colorado, D.C. United, FC Dallas, Portland, San Jose, Toronto FC and Vancouver, as well as LA’s annual Fourth of July game against Philadelphia and the Galaxy’s home leg in the SuperClasico against Chivas USA on August 21. The network will also join the club on the road for games against Colorado, Real Salt Lake, Seattle, Vancouver and the expansion Montreal Impact.

“We’re thrilled to partner with Time Warner Cable Sports and the LA Galaxy,” said KDOC-TV President/General Manager John Manzi. “The MLS Cup champions are the premier club in MLS and the organization is committed to defending their championship in 2012. Galaxy games are a perfect fit with KDOC-TV’s mission to broadcast compelling local sports to L.A. television viewers”.

KDOC-TV will broadcast the first 18 of the Galaxy’s local broadcasts ahead of the launch of Time Warner Cable’s new Regional Sports Networks, which will debut in Fall 2012. The new Los Angeles-based Regional Sports Networks, which agreed to a 10-year broadcast agreement with the Galaxy in November 2011 will broadcast their first Galaxy game in English on Sunday, October 21 when the club travels north to face the rival San Jose Earthquakes in their final road game of the regular season.

Galaxy legend Cobi Jones will serve as the lead analyst for KDOC-TV’s coverage of the club. A two-time MLS Cup champion and one of the greatest players in club history, Jones played for the Galaxy from 1996-2007, helping them win five different championships. Jones remained with the club after retiring and served as an assistant coach for the club from 2008-2010. The most capped player in U.S. National Team history, Jones appeared in 164 games during his international career and played in the World Cup three times, twice helping the U.S. reach the knockout stages of the competition. He will be joined in the booth by Mark Rogondino, who returns for his seventh season as part of the Galaxy television broadcasts. A sideline reporter in 2006 and the lead analyst from 2007-11, Rogondino is in his first season as the club’s play-by-play voice.

“No single person is more synonymous with the LA Galaxy than Cobi Jones and we are thrilled to have him back in the Galaxy family,” said LA Galaxy COO, Chris McGowan. “Cobi is a voice that Galaxy fans everywhere will know and respect and to be able to pair him in the booth for our KDOC telecasts with a seasoned broadcasting professional such as Mark Rogondino, is a fantastic testament to the quality we are putting into these broadcasts.”

While KDOC-TV and Time Warner Cable Sports will handle the Galaxy’s regular season English language regional broadcasts in 2012, KWHY-TV will be the club’s Spanish language television home this year. The network will broadcast all 14 of the club’s regular season games that are not broadcast on national partners ESPN/ESPN Deportes, NBC Sports Network and Galavision. KWHY-TV will broadcast nine of the Galaxy’s home games this season, starting with the regular season opener against Real Salt Lake on Saturday, March 10, and five road games. KWHY-TV will carry the club’s home games against D.C. United, FC Dallas, Philadelphia, Portland, San Jose and Vancouver as well as road games against Colorado, Montreal, Real Salt Lake, Seattle and Vancouver. Time Warner Cable Sports’ Spanish language Regional Sports Network will begin broadcasting Galaxy games in 2013.

Adrian Garcia Marquez will be KWHY-TV’s play-by-play announcer and Francisco Pinto will serve as the lead analyst. A former Univision, ESPN Deportes, Telemundo, Fox and Fox Sports West employee, Garcia Marquez comes to the Galaxy having done play-by-play for some of the biggest franchises in U.S., including the Boston Red Sox, Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, Los Angeles Dodgers, Oakland A’s, San Diego Padres, San Diego Chargers and USC football.
