CARSON, Calif. – After losing 3-1 to the New England Revolution on Saturday at The Home Depot Center, the LA Galaxy’s next match is on April 7 against Sporting Kansas City. And as far as they’re concerned, it can’t come soon enough.

“It’s going to be a tough week now,” Galaxy forward Robbie Keane said after the Galaxy’s disappointing loss to the Revs. “It’s never good when you lose a game, especially when you’ve got a week ‘til your next game. If there’s a game in a few days time, you kind of have to get your head around getting yourself focused, but it’s going to be a long week for the boys. It’s up to everyone to pick their heads up and be men.”
The loss was as stunning as it was spectacular. With a 12-day break between games, LA seemingly had ample time to prepare for the Revs and reverse a trend of leaking goals on defense. Through three MLS matches this season, the Galaxy have conceded seven goals, as well as giving up four goals to Toronto FC in their two CONCACAF Champions League quarterfinal matches.
“Two weeks off, 10 days, six weeks, it doesn’t really matter,” Keane said. “You still can’t concede goals like [we did vs. New England] regardless if you have two weeks off or three days off or two days off. We can’t be conceding goals the way we’ve conceded them… We have to rectify that because the goals we’re conceding are similar to the first games.”
New England scored in the 10th and 13th minutes and added a third in the 65th. Though Keane pulled one back a little more than ten minutes later with his third strike of the season, LA couldn’t recover from the early one-two combination.
“We can’t point the fingers at just the defenders,” Keane said. “We have to take this as a team, as a group of players. We have to accept it and not keep our heads down and be babies about it, get on with it, be a man and make sure we’re ready for next week.”
