Los Angeles Galaxy Foundation to Build Reading Garden at Chapman Elementary on April 30

CARSON, Calif. (Thursday, April 26, 2012) – The Los Angeles Galaxy Foundation, The Home Depot Center Charitable Foundation and The Home Depot will build a Reading Garden at Chapman Elementary School in Gardena, Calif. on Monday, April 30. Galaxy players Edson Buddle, Todd Dunivant, Sean Franklin and Dan Keat will be on hand to assist with the building of the Reading Garden along with volunteers from the Galaxy, The Home Depot Center and The Home Depot Lakewood location. Chapman Elementary was selected as the winners of the Fourth Annual Reading Garden Challenge earlier this month.

The build was originally scheduled for today, Thursday, April 26, but has now been moved back to Monday, April 30 because of inclement weather in the area.


The Reading Garden build will begin at 9 a.m., with the official groundbreaking, followed by teams of volunteers making final preparations by painting and installing planters while also planting flowers. Galaxy players are scheduled to arrive following training at 1 p.m. and the formal Board Cutting Ceremony will take place at 1:30 p.m.


Noah’s Bagels of Manhattan Beach and Starbucks – Redondo Beach and Normandie will be providing morning refreshments while Panera Bread of Carson are catering lunch. Additionally, Herbalife will be providing items from their line of their health and wellness products.
