CARSON, Calif. (Friday, June 1, 2012) – LA Galaxy midfielders Mike Magee and Michael Stephens have each been handed one-game suspensions and fined an undisclosed amount by the MLS Disciplinary Committee for their actions in Saturday’s 2-1 loss at Houston. As a result of the Disciplinary Committee’s decisions, Magee and Stephens will now miss the club’s home game against Portland on Sunday, June 17.

Both players were shown yellow cards for their incidents, only for the Disciplinary Committee to rule that Stephens endangered the safety of his opponent for his 46th minute foul on Adam Moffat while Magee was deemed to have committed aggravated dissent against referee Silviu Petrescu, including throwing a ball in his direction in the second minute of second half stoppage time.

The Galaxy will now be without both Magee and Stephens, as well as fellow midfielder Hector Jimenez, for the game against Portland on June 17. Jimenez was given a two-game suspension for his foul on San Jose’s Steven Beitashour in LA’s 3-2 loss to the Earthquakes on May 23.

The Galaxy, who will be back in training at The Home Depot Center on Friday morning, return to MLS action on Sunday, June 17 when they host the Portland Timbers. That game, which will be shown live on KDOC and KWHY, kicks off at 4 p.m. For more information about this game or to purchase tickets to any future Galaxy home game, please visit lagalaxy.com/tickets.
