LA Galaxy News and Notes (8/18)

It's a rare weekend with no LA Galaxy action so here are a few notes to get you through your Saturday:

The Galaxy may not be in action this weekend, but there are a pair of matches with massive Western Conference playoff implications on Saturday. At 1:00pm PDT, the fourth place Seattle Sounders will host the fifth place Vancouver Whitecaps in a Cascadia Cup clash at CenturyLink Field.  Vancouver will be without midfielder Barry Robson, whose one game suspension for aggravated dissent was announced on Saturday morning. Meanwhile, at 6:00pm PDT, second place Real Salt Lake host a resurgent FC Dallas. Both games can be seen on MLS Live.

Remember, the Galaxy are currently in third place in the Western Conference standings tied at 37 points with Vancouver and Seattle, but hold the total goals scored tiebreaker on both clubs. LA sit five points behind RSL. Both games can be seen on MLS Live.

LA Galaxy broadcast partner Time Warner Cable Deportes announced their On-Air Talent for Galaxy matches.

Juninho's outside of the box blast against Chivas USA finished second to Montreal Impact's Sanna Nyassi's goal in the AT&T Goal of the Week voting.

Fan voting begins on Monday for MLSsoccer.com's 24 Under 24, which ranks the top 24 players under the age of 24. The Galaxy had two players in last year's list: #8 Omar Gonzalez and #14 Juninho . The Galaxy will have a total of 11 players up for selection this season including:

Rafael Garcia, midfielder
Bryan Gaul, defender/midfielder
Hector Jimenez, midfielder
Juninho, midfielder
Jack McBean, forward
Tommy Meyer, defender
Brian Perk, goalkeeper
Brian Rowe, goalkeeper
Michael Stephens, midfielder
Jose Villarreal, midfielder/forward
Kenney Walker, midfielder
