The LA Galaxy season may be over, but LA Galaxy Insider Adam Serrano will spend the next few weeks offering an evaluation of each member of the squad. VIEW CALENDAR
The LA Galaxy Player Ratings will begin with players who appeared in the least number of games this season starting with goalkeeper Brian Rowe and concluding with Sean Franklin who played in all 34 of the club’s regular season games. There will also be an evaluation of head coach and general manager Bruce Arena and his moves at the conclusion of the list.
We will have two to three evaluations per day and focus on what each player did well, what they need to improve on ahead of next season as well as a select thought from the player on their performance and a rating from myself.

HIGHLIGHTS: Gaudette became the Galaxy’s starter after starting goalkeeper Josh Saunders enrolled in Major League Soccer’s Substance Abuse and Behavioral Health program and while he developed a penchant for making brilliant saves, he was winless in four appearances for LA. The veteran ‘keeper was dealt to the Red Bulls for New York’s natural 2014 second round MLS Supplemental Draft pick.  He would eventually become the club’s starting goalkeeper for a month before being felled by a back injury. But his finest moment came in international competition as he delivered a brilliant performance making eight saves in Puerto Rico’s 2-1 defeat to reigning World Cup champion Spain.

LOWLIGHTS:  Prior to being traded to New York, Gaudette’s lowest moment came when he was part of an LA team that crashed out of the U.S. Open Cup in the Third Round with a loss to the Carolina Railhawks. After being acquired by New York, Gaudette seemed to lock down a starting position for the Red Bulls, but after suffering a back injury during a training session in late-September, he did not make another appearance losing his spot to newcomer Luis Robles.

HIS THOUGHTS: “This is my job, these are my boys, these are the guys I got to grind with every day, these are the guys I go out to dinner with every night. These are my boys, these are the guys I battle for and it was nice to be back with them.” – Guadette after a 3-2 NYRB win over the Portland Timbers on Aug. 19.

RATING:  ONE STAR: Gaudette performed admirably filling in for Josh Saunders in midseason, but ultimately, he was unable to lock down a starting spot leading to his trade to New York. While Gaudette had his moments with the Red Bulls, he eventually lost the starting spot to Luis Robles and did not have his option picked up by the club following the season. The veteran goalkeeper was available for selection in the Re-Entry Draft, but was not selected.
