LA Galaxy to open MLS Cup title defense on March 3 at The Home Depot Center

CARSON, Calif. (Tuesday, December 18, 2012) – The LA Galaxy will open the 2013 MLS season on Sunday, March 3 when they host the Chicago Fire at The Home Depot Center. The 2013 season opener will be the Galaxy’s earliest regular season game in club history, coming exactly one week ahead of the club’s 2012 regular season opener against Real Salt Lake, which was played at The Home Depot Center on March 10. Prior to last season, the Galaxy had never played a regular season game before March 10.


The kickoff time and broadcast information for this game will be announced in the coming weeks as part of the complete 2013 regular season schedule announcement. For the second straight season, all 19 MLS clubs will play 34 games during the regular season.


The Galaxy are 8-6-3 all-time in their first game of the regular season, including 2-2-1 in season openers played at The Home Depot Center.
