CARSON, Calif. (Monday, March 4, 2013) – LA Galaxy forward Mike Magee was named the MLS Player of the Week by the North American Soccer Reporters today after registering the first hat trick of his MLS career in Sunday’s 4-0 win over the Chicago Fire at The Home Depot Center. Magee scored in the 38th, 68th and 74th minutes to give his team a 3-0 lead en route to a season opening victory. This is the second Player of the Week award of Magee’s MLS career and first since June 2011.

Highlights: LA 4, CHI 0

Now in his fifth season with the Galaxy and 11th in MLS, Magee had nine goals in all competitions last season, including three in the MLS Cup Playoffs. This was the third multi-goal game of the 28-year-old’s MLS career and second as a member of the Galaxy, having scored twice in a 3-0 win over Vancouver Whitecaps FC on September 17, 2011. His hat trick was the first by a Galaxy player since September 20, 2008 when Landon Donovan scored three times in a 5-2 home win over D.C. United.

While he did earn Player of the Week honors, neither Mike Magee or his teammate Robbie Keane were nominated for MLS Goal of the Week. We thought all four goals were quality strikes, so we ask you, which Galaxy goal would you vote for Goal of the Week?
