Wednesday Notes: Arena speaks to ESPN The Magazine, Saunders prepares for RSL debut

Speaking to ESPN The Magazine reporter Doug McIntyre, LA Galaxy head coach Bruce Arena touched on a number of topics including the Galaxy, the U.S. national team, those in the U.S. who don't watch MLS, and a host of other topics.

Perhaps Arena's best Galaxy related quote is regarding LA's bid for a third straight MLS Cup title.

"I don't think the league would be happy," Arena told ESPN The Magazine. "The league's plan is to not have any club be particularly good for an extended period of time. That's the basis of the single entity [ownership structure], to bring about parity. It would be good for our organization, but that's not our focus"

Arena's comments come after Brian Straus' sensational piece in The Sporting News about the discontent with U.S. head coach Jurgen Klinsmann

Michael Bradley addressed the story on Wednesday describing criticism against Klinsmann as "shameful."

Clint Dempsey will serve as the U.S. captain for both upcoming World Cup Qualifiers against Costa Rica and Mexico.

Former Galaxy goalkeeper Josh Saunders will make his Real Salt Lake debut this week with RSL's number one goalkeeper Nick Rimando away on international duty.
