CARSON, Calif. – Landon Donovan will be returning to the LA Galaxy next week and according to head coach Bruce Arena, the plan is for him to attend the club’s White House visit next Tuesday.
Arena revealed following Thursday’s training session that the club is “planning on Landon going” to the White House visit next week. LA is scheduled to visit the White House on Tuesday along with the Stanley Cup Champion LA Kings.
Although Donovan is scheduled to attend the visit, Arena admits that it will take some time for the forward to reach game fitness.
“Naturally, a player of Landon’s caliber would be great to bring back into the team. We need to be patient, it’s going to take some time,” Arena said when asked about Donovan’s integration. “You don’t go from being away to stepping on the field and being ready to play and being up to the level that he left us in December. It’s going to take some time and we need to be patient.”
