Can Robbie Keane's potential return boost the LA Galaxy attack?

VANCOUVER, B.C. – Robbie Keane is targeting Wednesday’s match against the Philadelphia Union to make is return to the field after missing three games due to an ankle injury.  If Keane does find his way back in the Galaxy starting lineup, his teammates will be hoping it kick starts the team's attack.

LA has scored just one goal in two matches and went 253 minutes between their last two strikes: Charlie Rugg’s 13th minute goal against Real Salt Lake on April 27 and Gyasi Zardes’ strike in the 86th minute of the Galaxy’s 3-1 loss to Vancouver Whitecaps FC on Saturday.

After the defeat to  Vancouver  member of the LA Galaxy labeled Keane’s absence as a distinct reason for LA’s recent attacking struggles but midfielder Mike Magee was blunt after the match.

“I think any team would be missing Robbie,” Magee said.

However, Landon Donovan admitted that the Galaxy can’t pin all their hopes of snapping their two game skid against the Union on Keane’s potential return as defensive breakdowns have led to both defeats.

“Robbie certainly helps in the attacking areas, but Robbie wasn’t going to make any of the plays on the three goals that they scored tonight,” said Donovan. “We all have to be better in certain parts of the game, but certainly having Robbie back will help the attack.”
