Robbie Rogers continuing to round into form as his fitness improves

CARSON, Calif. – Robbie Rogers has been busy this week. Not because of interviews or media spots, but because he’s feverishly trying to work back to full fitness and become a major contributor on the LA Galaxy.

Rogers has made three appearances in all competitions since joining the Galaxy last month, but as LA prepares for this Saturday’s match against Real Salt Lake, the 26-year-old midfielder feels like he’s poised to turn the corner, in terms of fitness and his general soccer skills.

“I’ve been doing fitness every day since we got back, so it’s good to be home this week and get some proper training in. It’s really important for me,” Rogers told reporters on Thursday. “[My touch] is feeling a lot better. I don’t have to watch it all the way to my foot now; I just feel it and go. That’s a great feeling. Just running with the ball as well, I feel more comfortable.”

Following last Sunday’s crushing 5-0 defeat to the New England Revolution, Rogers is eager to get in gear and start to contribute to the Galaxy.

“It does motivate and make you hungry. It’s like come on, I know that we can do better than this and I know that I can do better this and I know that I can help this team. That is exciting and that is why I wanted to work so hard this week so I can definitely push myself forward and I think that everyone feels the same way about themselves.”
