CARSON, Calif. (Thursday, August 22, 2013) – The LA Galaxy announced today that the club has agreed to loan defender Bryan Gaul and midfielder Kenney Walker to the NASL’s Carolina RailHawks for the remainder of the NASL Fall Season. The two players arrived in North Carolina earlier this week and will be eligible to make their debut for the RailHawks this weekend when the club hosts Minnesota United.
The duo was originally loaned to the NASL’s Fort Lauderdale Strikers with Walker appearing in one game for the club before they were recalled by the Galaxy and sent to the RailHawks.
The Galaxy and RailHawks have met in the Third Round of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup in each of the last two seasons with Carolina upsetting the Galaxy in each of those matches. Gaul started for LA in the two sides’ 2012 meeting while Walker started in the 2013 matchup. Neither player has appeared in a regular season game for the Galaxy this season.
As rookies in 2012, both Gaul and Walker were a part of the Galaxy team that won their second straight MLS Cup championship. Gaul appeared in 19 games in all competitions, making 11 starts and registering one assist. Walker appeared in four games in all competitions, making one league appearance while starting three games in the CONCACAF Champions League.
The Galaxy are back in action this weekend when they travel north to Vancouver to face Whitecaps FC at BC Place on Saturday evening. That game, which is the third and final regular season meeting between the two sides this season, kicks off at 6 p.m. (PT) and can be seen live on. LA will be back at home a week later on Saturday, August 31 when they host the San Jose Earthquakes. That game, which will be shown live on Time Warner Cable SportsNet and Time Warner Cable Deportes, is presented by The Flame Broiler and will kickoff at 7:30 with the first 10,000 fans to enter the stadium receiving a Robbie Keane bobblehead courtesy of The Flame Broiler.
