Tommy Meyer hoping to make LA Galaxy return after up and down second year

CARSON, Calif. – Tommy Meyer endured the dreaded “sophomore slump” in his second year with the LA Galaxy, but the rookie is confident that he has the tools to put his career back on track.

In my latest LA Galaxy Insider Year in Review, I look back at Meyer’s season that saw him make just 11 appearances for the club. Meyer, who is hopeful of returning the Galaxy in 2014, admitted that his up and down form was largely attributed to confidence as he failed to lock down consistent minutes throughout the season.

But that isn’t the only thing that Meyer hopes to tighten up heading into 2014.

“If you play a consistent number of games at a time then you’re going to have that confidence and be able to build upon the game before as well as learn from your mistakes," Meyer said after admitting that he lacked confidence at time in 2013. "I also think that I’ll need to work on defending restarts, for sure, that’s a big key going into next year."
