Home Opener

CARSON, Calif. (Monday, November 25, 2013) – The LA Galaxy will open the 2014 MLS regular season at StubHub Center on Saturday, March 8 against the team that ended the club’s 2013 season earlier this month, Real Salt Lake. That game will be the first of 34 regular season games that the club plays during the 19th season of Major League Soccer. This will be the fourth consecutive season in which the Galaxy and all MLS clubs play 17 home games and 17 road games during the regular season. The Galaxy will once again play three games against each Western Conference opponent during the regular season while also facing each of their 10 Eastern Conference opponents once.

Becoming a Galaxy Season Ticket Member gives fans the opportunity to see every Galaxy home game as well as number of additional benefits such as access to Town Hall meetings with Galaxy leaders, discounts on additional single game tickets, entrance into the club’s new Season Ticket Member loyalty program and much more as well as discounts at all TEAM LA locations and on select camps at the Galaxy Soccer Center in Torrance. Of the Galaxy’s 34 regular season games, 19 will be shown on one of Major League Soccer’s national television partners, ESPN, NBC Sports and Univision. Eight games will be broadcast live on NBC or the NBC Sports Network while six games will be shown live on ESPN or ESPN2 as well as ESPN Deportes. Additionally, UniMas or Univision Deportes will broadcast five games nationally in Spanish, though those games will also be available locally in English on Time Warner Cable SportsNet.

Of the Galaxy’s 17 regular season home games, 13 will be played on the weekend with the club hosting nine Saturday matches and four Sunday games in addition to two Wednesday night games and two matches on Friday nights. The first of those Friday night games is the club’s annual July 4 game which will see LA host the Portland Timbers this year. This will be the 19th consecutive season in which the Galaxy host a game on Independence Day, making it the longest such stretch in American professional sports. That game will be the Galaxy’s first home game in nearly a month with Major League Soccer scheduling a two-week break in the regular season schedule for the start of the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil with the Galaxy not playing a league game between June 9 and June 28.

The Galaxy’s complete regular season schedule can be found below. The club’s complete local television broadcast schedules for Time Warner Cable SportsNet and Time Warner Cable Deportes, as well as local English and Spanish language radio schedules, will be announced at a later date.
