LA Galaxy announce local television schedules and comprehensive programming lineup on Time Warner Cable SportsNet and Time Warner Cable Deportes

CARSON, Calif. (Friday, February 14, 2014) – The LA Galaxy today announced their complete local television schedule for the 2014 MLS regular season and full details of the comprehensive programming and coverage of the team that will air on Time Warner Cable SportsNet and Time Warner Cable Deportes. The networks enter their second season as the exclusive local home of the LA Galaxy, with Time Warner Cable SportsNet televising 21 regular season Galaxy matches this year and Time Warner Cable Deportes airing 16.


Live coverage on both networks begins when the LA Galaxy host Opening Night against Real Salt Lake at the StubHub Center on Saturday, March 8 at 7:30 p.m. PT. In addition to bringing fans live matches in both English and Spanish, as the exclusive local TV homes of the team, Time Warner Cable SportsNet and Time Warner Cable Deportes return for a second season of unrivaled depth and access programming and original shows dedicated to all things LA Galaxy.


On Friday, Time Warner Cable SportsNet unveiled its broadcast team for the Galaxy throughout the 2014 season. Joe Tutino joins the Time Warner Cable SportsNet team and returns to the Galaxy TV booth in 2014 after spending 2003 thru '13 as the radio 'voice' of the Galaxy.  From 1999 through 2002, Tutino held the post of both Galaxy TV and radio. The broadcast veteran has been in the broadcast booth for all Galaxy MLS Cup matches outside the 1996 inaugural season. Tutino's association began with the Galaxy in 1996 as the public address announcer for the Galaxy's inaugural match.


Tutino will be joined in the booth by Galaxy legend Cobi Jones, who returns as the network’s lead analyst for a third straight season. The all-time leader in games played for both the Galaxy and the U.S. National Team, Jones spent 12 seasons playing for the Galaxy before joining the club’s coaching staff following the 2007 campaign. The two-time MLS Cup winner left the club following the 2010 season and joined Time Warner Cable SportsNet in 2012.


Rounding out the on-air team for Galaxy games on Time Warner Cable SportsNet is Kelli Tennant, who will serve as the network’s sideline reporter. A former college volleyball player at USC, Tennant transitioned to an on-camera role working as a reporter for TrojanTV All-Access and providing color analysis for USC men’s volleyball match webcasts. Tennant has also worked on high school football telecasts for Time Warner Cable SportsNet and SoCal 101 and previously worked for Fox Sports, ESPN, the Pac-12 Network, Longhorn Network, the Association of Volleyball Professionals (AVP) and E! News.


Returning to the on-air team for Time Warner Cable Deportes is Martin “El Pulpo” Zúñiga, who will continue as the soccer analyst for the network.  Known for his 14-year career as a professional soccer player in Mexico and the United States, Zúñiga is a well-respected voice in the MLS and on the international soccer stage. Samuel Jacobo will again join Zúñiga with the play-by-play action. Also returning for Time Warner Cable Deportes is soccer insider Elmur Souza, who will be the voice of the network on the sideline. Additionally, Souza will continue to deliver unique insight on the team as one of the few reporters who travels with the Galaxy for national telecasts. 


On Time Warner Cable SportsNet, live game coverage will begin 30 minutes before the game on “Access SportsNet: Galaxy” and continue live for an hour afterwards. “Access SportsNet: Galaxy will be led by Time Warner Cable SportsNet studio hosts Chris McGee and Jaime Maggio. On Time Warner Cable Deportes, the pregame “Galaxy En Vivo” and postgame “Vamos Galaxy” shows will bring fans every angle of the team and be hosted by analysts Christian Bozzo, Steve Sampson and Francisco X. Rivera. “Vamos Galaxy” will also air for nationally televised LA Galaxy matches.


Also returning are the popular documentary-style series “Backstage: Galaxy” and “Galaxy Confidencial,” two behind-the-scenes shows that will take viewers inside the locker room and on the road with the team all season long. “Backstage: Galaxy” premieres on Saturday, March 8 at 6:30 p.m. PT before Time Warner Cable SportsNet’s live coverage of the Galaxy home opener and a new episode will debut every other Saturday. “Galaxy Confidencial” premieres on Thursday, February 27 at 9:30 p.m. and will air every other Thursday all season long.  


On Time Warner Cable SportsNet, other Galaxy programming includes “Timeless Galaxy,” re-telecasts of classic Galaxy games enhanced with social media interaction and bonus commentary on “Encore+” and games condensed into a fast-paced, one-hour format on “Galaxy Compacto.” “Access SportsNet” will provide regular coverage of the Galaxy on non-game nights throughout the season and Galaxy players and personalities will be featured on the network’s signature interview series “Connected With…”


Time Warner Cable Deportes will continue to televise “Galaxy Compacto,” airing all 34 Galaxy games in the one-hour condensed format or as full-length re-airs of highly anticipated, special team match-ups.  Additionally, the nightly “Tu Show Deportivo” program will keep fans up-to-the-minute on all things LA Galaxy, including daily reports from team training sessions along with all relevant news happenings around the MLS.
